I own 2 of these now. I bought the first one 2 years ago from Sears. It stopped working a few months ago. Since I really liked the heater - it worked well and was quiet - I replaced it with another one from amazon.
A few weeks ago, while rummaging for something else I found the old receipt and warranty booklet for the first one. I discovered that it has a 5 year limited warranty on it. So I called the number on the pamphlet. The customer service woman asked me to fax her the receipt. Within less than 2 weeks a replacement arrived. Don't you just love that?
OK, the new heater is covered in dust but has no sign of prior use. I shone a torch into the interiors to assess this.
It is quiet and does a good job of heating rooms (up to 12' x 14', easy), which is what it is meant for. Room, meaning contained or closed areas. It is not meant to heat your whole house or heat a smaller area within a larger open area. You should use a radiant heater for the latter. I wish this heater wouldn't default to 55 degrees every time you switch it on. Why would someone buy a heater if they wanted to be that cold? Ideally it should default to somewhere in the comfort zone 65 - 75 and then go up or down from there. Other than that, no complaints.
