Customer Review: Great Buy
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm pretty happy with this buy. You need to keep it pretty close to you if you want instant gratification but if you give in a half hour or so it can heat up a bedroom.

Customer Review: Works well!
Summary: 5 Stars

This heater works well! It's easy to use, quiet, warms up a large bedroom, and is a great price. Very happy with this purchase.

Customer Review: Perfect little heater
Summary: 4 Stars

This is the second one I purchased. I'm SOOOO happy with them.

The first was for me. I lived in a tiny room for Grad School and the heating didn't work. This little heater kept me warm and cozy all winter. It turns off when it reaches the desired heat and turns back on on it's own when it starts getting chilly again. Since it's air, I did put a stopper under my door so the heat wouldn't get out and it worked great.

I had this thing on FOR HOURS and it never smelled burned or reduce it's power. Also, it's not very noisy; the "low" setting is pretty quiet.

The second one was for my boyfriend. He's also in a tiny room with roommates at Grad School. I gave it to him for Christmas and he loves it. He turns it on in the morning when he goes to take a shower, and when he comes back the room is nice and toasty.

Now that I've moved and have a bigger place, the room doesn't heat up as much - this one is too small for me, but I'll set it besides my bed and it'll do the trick. I would have given it 1 more star if it heated the entire room; I guess the heater works best in small spaces.

The different heat setting and "high/low" air settings are a perk. Great value for the money!

Customer Review: Good for Basic Heating
Summary: 4 Stars

This little heater does a great job at its basic function- creating heat quickly in a localized area. It is great when set on the high or low setting, or with the highest of the thermostat settings (80 degrees) it WILL cycle off and on again.

Unfortunately, the "thermostat" controls simply do not work the way they should. I have not had success with any of the lower thermostat settings (in 5 degree increments, going down to 60). The unit simply did not turn on, despite the ambient temperature.

When I use this heater in my studio apartment I point it right at myself as I am sitting at my computer desk or towards my bed at night. This was a great help in the Fall, when it was cold in the apartment but the heat hadn't been turned on in the building yet. Occasionally there has been a warm day where the apartment heat didn't come on but it was still too cool outside to be comfortable with open windows. It is nice to have this little heater on hand for intermittent use.

Next time I will look for a version with a cool fan option, (for some reason I thought this had a cool setting, but it does not) and I will buy one without the thermostat, since it does not work well.

Customer Review: Pretty nice
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought one of these last year and am using it again this winter. This heater is rather quiet for a fan-type although powerful at 1500W. The thermostat isn't very accurate, but then it was only designed to keep a personal space at a certain temperature, which it does well. You would need two of these to keep a small apartment near a specific temperature; otherwise set this heater to 5 deg. above desired temp.

The heater it replaced was a 600W radiant heater which failed just weeks after purchase. Eventually I decided the fan/hot-air heater could not completely replace the kind of direct warmth I get from radiant units, so now depending on my activity I alternate between the Holmes and a newer 900W carbon-FIR heater made Honeywell.

Fan-type heaters usually annoy me, but this one doesn't and it turned out better than I thought it would. I think this one would have rated 5 stars if it had a gradually-adjustable thermostat instead of digital presets.
