Customer Review: Better than I had hoped...

We had tried several different heaters to heat our family room with less than satisfactory results. We went through several oil filled heaters. They provided some heat, but very localized...not spreading throughout the room. They also seemed to fall apart after a couple of years.
A neighbor had one of those expensive EdenPure heaters that is quartz based and she is very happy with it. We couldn't spend that kind of money and it also takes up too much room. I searched and searched finally finding this one reviewed in Consumer Reports. I always like to get another opinion as sometimes I find Consumer Reports wrong.
We too the plunge and couldn't be happier. It makes a little vibrating noise when it comes on [sounds sort of like a fan on low]. That stops in a minute or two. What's the best is that it seems to push the heat out into the whole room.
In conclusion, it's not the prettiest unit, but more than does the job for us. We may actually buy another for the garage to replace an older unit.

My mother-in-law purchased this heater still like brand new in the box from a yard sale. My husband & I used for an entire winter season when our heat went out. Heats wonderfully and the fan blower allows us to place the heater about 10 feet from the couch and you can still feel the warmth. Well, the heater went kaputz & I inquired with the manufacturer & advised I had no receipt or proof of purchase. Would you believe they sent me a brand new one no further questions asked?! I was very impressed and pleased. Once we received our new heater, it was actually better than the heater we started with because this one came with the electronic thermastat whereas the old one just had the dial. They didn't even ask for the old one back! WOW. There is something to be said for great customer service these days. I noticed with the paperwork that came with the new heater this thing has a 6 year warranty and the old heater we had was stamped on the back 2005 so they really honor this! AND the heater is great! This is just a quick note. I live in Atlanta in a large house. It is costly to turn the central heat on just to take the chill off a couple of rooms when if you wait long enough it generally will warm up. I have used Holems quartz heaters for several years moving them around as needed. The current model sold here in 2007 is much improved over the ones sold back before 2005. One nice feature is that they include a circuit breaker in a module at the plug end. You can tap that switch to instantly turn one off rather then step through all the different settings using the top mounted switch. I am here checking the current price as I intend to buy a coouple of more of these so they don't need to be moved around. These are really nice space heaters compared to the junk I have tried over the years. They hold up even in the humid enviroment of the bath.
I highly recomend this item.

This is a great product!!! It replaced a $400.00 heater- returned to the manufacturer- that only worked 49 days. This far exceeds my expectations. Height is a plus for heat distribution. Thermostat adjustments are many and it is easy to redirect, lightweight, quiet and the heat output even on low is wonderful. Highly recommend it and it did NOT cost $400.00!!! A lower thermostat at 65 means saving on the price of gas. The fact that Amazon carried it made the purchase easier with no worries if there is a problem.Customer Review: Works as advertised.

This product works as advertised. One thing I wish for is ability to shut off fan altogether to reduce noise level for music listening. Another is a more sensitive thermostat that would cause unit to cycle more frequently so that it doesn't become so warm before shutting off. The product I used before was a quartz heater without a fan that was made by Boekamp. After many years of faithful service, this unit finally expired. Having said that, the fan noise level for the Holmes unit is quite low.
