Tools and Hardware Reviews of Holmes HQH319-U Quartz Tower Heater with 1Touch® Electronic ThermostatCustomer Review: Does its job, with only a few minorly annoying quirks Summary: 4 Stars
This product, corresponding with most the reviews I read for the product before purchasing, does a great job at heating small- to medium-sized spaces, and has great safety features that make using a space heater much less worrisome. However, the heater is quite loud and does glow red, which can be annoying if you are planning on using this in a bedroom. The front of the heater also does get quite hot so children and animals should be kept away. I am using this heater to heat the back area of my house, which our central heat does not reach. It is great, and I love the easy-to-use thermostat which turns off the heater once it reaches the specified temperature. I only wish that it had more flexible thermostat settings that the user could adjust. But overall, a great product and definitely worth the price.
Customer Review: "Sun-like" warmth? Summary: 4 Stars
This product promises "rapid, glowing, sun-like warmth." But while it is indeed warm, there are several important respects in which its warmth is not sun-like.
1. It is not nearly *as* warm as the sun.
2. Its warmth is generated by (so far as I can tell) electricity, not nuclear fusion.
3. It is controlled by a thermostat.
Also, the warranty is only good for six years. The sun, on the other hand, should be good for at least six billion more years.*
I use this heater in a somewhat drafty attic, and it does an okay job. It's a bit louder than I would like. The one-touch thermostat is a nice feature.
*In six billion years, the sun is expected to be a red giant.
Customer Review: You Will be Pleased Summary: 4 Stars
I needed a space heater for a 650 sq ft room where I spend most of my day. I placed this heater behind my desk about 4 feet from where I work and under a window. I am pleasantly warm and during the day the room even warms nicely. Don't expect this heater to be a room heater. It is meant to warm objects near it and this it does wonderfully. I keep the main furnace thermostat about 4 degrees less than the heater thermostat and the main furnace only kicks off when I shut off the space heater at night. I highly recommend the Holmes Quartz heater for those who are fairly stationary during those cold days, but want to be warm without constantly running the main house furnace/heating system.
Customer Review: Ceramic all the way! Summary: 4 Stars
I love this heater. I have had many little junky heaters in the past and finally moved up to the ceramic ones. This heater keeps me warm like no other and I usually only have it on the Low setting. The low setting is very quiet (note that it makes a loud sound for about 10 second right when you start it up but go away to almost silence). The high setting is a bit louder but not over-whelming. I don't like the temperature settings as much as they cool off quickly once they've reached their setting and the unit basically shuts off. But since the low and high setting are so great, I see no reason to use any other settings.
Customer Review: Heater Review Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good product, heats the room completely. Its a little noisey, if you like it really quiet when sleeping, it can take a little getting use to but it does drown out the noise of barking dogs. The electronic theromstat works great, keeps my room at an even temperature, I've actually had to turn it down a couple of times or off in the middle of the night because I was too hot. Its bright, lights up the whole room when its on. I'd recommend it, works much better than any other portable heater I've tried. It did trip my power a couple of times and it automatically shuts itself off which is a nice feature.
