This heater put out an adequate amount of radiant heat. The fan on high speed made more noise than I expected, and the amount of hot air seemed less than the fan sound suggested. The controls were quite easy to use, and the heater maintained the ambient temperature steadily. The unit is lightweight, but the handle in the back (not the crossbar in the front)is a bit shallow and makes the unit feel unstable, especially if warm. The crossbar gets too hot to hold comfortably, so moving a warm unit is a one-handed affair using the rear grip.Customer Review: Good Heat for the Money

I purchased this heater as a replacement for a DeLonghi that was much louder, but also put out good heat. When the old one failed after several years of use, I began reading reviews on current models. This one scored well on most reviews. My master bath is in the northwest corner of a midwestern home. When the winds are high, the bathroom is cold. This heats up the space quickly and the thermostat settings are very convenient. You can select a temperature and a high or low speed. The Holmes HQH319-U is great for heating a room or small area. It heats up fast, has high and low functions and can be set to a specific temperature.
The drawbacks are it is rather large and gets hot in the front and is somewhat noisy on the high setting. I wouldn't use it around children.

We are very satisfied with our Holmes Heater, as it produces good heatin an otherwise cold room. It is easy to use and responds to internal thermostat very well. The price was affordable also.
