I read all the reviews, it was hard to make my decision. My safe arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised. While a pry bar and sledge won't keep someone out, it should do fine for my purpose. My kids know gun safety anyway, it's just thier friends and friends pressure that made me order.
I know a family that lost a 15 yr old girl because they didn't have their gun in a safe, I ordered this a short time after that.
I read directions and agree with user about just using the same code, or be sure you keep the original code, if your batteries go out, you have to hold a 9V against the two lower buttons to get power to the device and then enter the original code given.

This Electronic Locking Quick-access Safe is perfect for keeping your handgun
save from little curious hands and save you a lot of grief later. Is perfectly size for a single gun, but there are larger one for more or bigger guns or used for storage of anything of value and needs quick access to them. Easily mounts anywhere, in closets, under a desk or in a cabinet or even in your car.
With the easy programmable codes on the 5 push-buttons, it make for a very quick-draw without having to strap your gun to your hips. With the dead-battery by-pass feature, you don't have to worry what to do, when the batteries goes out.

I don't know WHY the picture that Amazon shows for this gun safe is wrong...the real photo is the smaller safe that Amazon has listed as HS10036685 (which is 10"x14.25"x7.5" - a much larger safe) - I am VERY pleased with the size of this safe and it will hold both our Glock 27 & My S&W 38. I STILL can't believe the price...the box is very solid in construction. I am having trouble setting up the code so will probably call HOMAK to see what I'm doing wrong but besides that I am VERY thankful to have a place for my gun to go out of "small" hands! I HIGHLY recommend this gun safe!!!

I bought two of these reasonably priced safes to have in the bedroom and to hide one in the kitchen. My wife and I both carry and I like making it very convenient to lock up the guns because we have small children. As some reviews noted it can be broken into very easily so if you are buying for true security save your money. It serves well as a child safety safe and can be quickly opened. I have a larger safe for security and fire protection so this fills a different nitch. I did notice the battery pack falls loose over time and the lack of a key overide is why I rated it 4 instead of 5.Customer Review: Goofy shape

Works as intended. One of the reviews complained about it being easy to break, etc. OK! I can kick your door down in probably 2-3 kicks! It will stop kids! In addition to the combination (which can be a combination of keys are once) you have to push the door down to release it within 5 seconds. When your kids get big enough to cram screwdrivers in and open it, you've got bigger problems on you hands! If you conceal it well, you've got a good chance that it will be secured. For the price, it's a winner! Oh! The shape is goofy, but the picture shows that.
