Tools and Hardware Reviews of HomeRight C800552 Heat Pro Deluxe 10-piece Hot Air Tool KitCustomer Review: Heck of a deal for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this heat gun for the sole purpose of installing Dynamat soundproofing in my eight year old Honda CR-V. Since I only planned to use it for one project I didn't want to spend a whole lot. This gun was incredible for what I intended it for, but now I have used it for so much more that I can't believe I lived without one for so long.
For starters, this is incredible for heat shrink tubing. It is designed to stand on its back in a very stable position so that you can have both of your hands free to hold your project. While soundproofing my car I also added an amp to my stereo. I cut heat shrink tubing to cover all of the wire splices and safely and easliy heated them with this unit. (MUCH easier than the old Bic Lighter technique, especially in your engine compartment.)
Since then I've found tons of other uses;
My daughter broke the wick on a $[...] scented candle after we'd only used it about an hour. I grabbed this gun and melted about a 1/2 inch of wax to pour off so we could save the other $[...] worth of "Fresh Linen" smell.
My brother used it to easilly take stickers off of his work van.
I heated the end of some aquarium tubing to make it pliable enough to slide over a tight fitting.
My brother used it to heat some PVC piping so he could bend it to an angle.
My wife used it to melt some craft thing (that I still don't understand).
In general, it's a heck of a package. Lots of accessory blades and tools, nice case to keep it in, great gun with lots of control over the settings. Go get one and melt stuff!
Customer Review: Good enough for my little projects. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this unit on the strength of the reviews here, and it has met my expectations for an inexpensive heat gun with a nice range of accessories and features.
I have only used it for two projects so far, gently thawing an outside water spigot when it froze this past winter, and using it as a heat source in a small heating chamber used to sweat cosmoline out of a military surplus rifle stock. I was able to regulate the amount of heat produced rather well for both applications. I plan to use it for some paint stripping soon, and expect that it will work just fine.
Just a word on the heat regulation, the knob is a continuously variable sweep, but the flickering lights in my garage show otherwise. While the gun is on less than full throttle, the heat is regulated by pulsing the current running to the heating element. This pulsing caused the lights in my garage to flicker in time to the pulses. There were definite discreet steps between settings, even though the heat control dial feels continuous.
Customer Review: PCB Component Removal Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this heatgun for PCB component removal only.
It works fantastic for my specific use! I was able to recover parts from around 10 various sized PCB's. This Device will burn pcb's at high setting so be careful!
I have no *real* complaints with the product, never overheated, ran for 30 to 45 minutes at a time. It looks kind of cheesy, but worked wonders for my specific use.
Price to performance, This was a great purchase. The nozzles are kind of cheap as well as the tools included, but it worked 100% to my expectation based on the price.
If PCB parts recovery is your goal, this will do it for cheap.
Customer Review: Satisfied and a good price ($35 for me) Summary: 5 Stars
Great design. Wide-range variable heat dial, and it really does go from slightly lukewarm to as hot as you'd want from a heat gun. Lots of accessories although I've only used a couple of them. It stands up on its end nicely too so that when the job is complete you can let it cool off without the tip touching anything before you put it back into the case.
I paid $34.99 for mine however I notice the price has gone up since then. So I might like it better than some considering a purchase now. But, price aside, it is great tool.
Customer Review: Does the Job! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the HomeRight heat gun based on another customer's very detailed review.
Quality was surprisingly good for the price, and it came with attachments and a sturdy plastic carrying case.
The variable heat control settings, not found at this price range, really make the HomeRight heat gun versatile.
I've already reshaped a slightly dented rear plastic bumper on my SUV, saving myself a $1000 body repair job, and have done a few projects requiring heat shrink tubing.
Great deal for the price!
