Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HCM650 4-Gallon QuietCare Cool Moisture HumidifierCustomer Review: Only lasted one year Summary: 2 Stars
Had many humidifiers over the years, and this one was OK, until the fan just went out, and I discovered that it only lasted for one year.
Customer Review: A humidifier for an attic or a trash can ... not suitable in a bedroom Summary: 1 Stars
This item is so noisy that it is unsuitable in a bedroom. Even at minimum speed this item makes too much noise. The manufacturer certainly knows about it since it tries to hide that fact with marketing gimmick by presenting this item as quiet. To make things even worst, the fan is also too strong even at minimum speed and makes us feel cold by creating a stream of humid air in the room. Lastly this item is at least 10% off when measuring relative humidity. When set at 50% it stops when the humidity reaches about 40% only, we could live with that, however, the humidifier permanently stops for 10 seconds, then starts for 1 minute, before stoping again before restarting for another minute ... and so on ... all night long. Needless to say that it is just impossible to sleep in these conditions. The 3-year old model was much better without a fan. The design of this new model is a total failure. You should save your money or buy something else if you need a humidifier in a bedroom. The best places for this unit are in the attic or in the trash can. All the best ...
Customer Review: Not up to par Summary: 1 Stars
I was truly hoping this would be the one to work properly, but unfortunately, it did not perform well. Very disappointed! I t would not run properly and I needed a humidifier that would run continuously throughout the night. It would run for a few hours and shut off and nothing I did could get it running again until the next night.
This is my third one in two years, and I am tired of buying these things and they do not work properly, they either conk out, or leak water.
I finally invested in a Sears Kenmore humidifier and it is working fine; although I paid a little bit more for it. They had great reviews from customers who were giving testimonies of having their Kenmore humidifier going on three years. I have spent a lot more on the three before this, so I see this as a way of saving money and getting reliable service.
Customer Review: Don't buy this product Summary: 1 Stars
After about a week of using the humidifier..the fan stopped working.
I tried to return it to Amazon but their buyer would not accept it back because I openend the package. I called Honeywell and they tried to help me fix it over the phone, but could not. I ended up having to ship it back to Honeywell and paid $20.00 for shipping! I am still waiting to get the replacement after a month. Also, you can not refill in your bathroom sink becasue of the way the water tank is designed. It goes on/off during the night depending on the humidity in the room, which would wake us up.
We will have to see how the replacement is...From now on, I will only buy products that are "fragile" in a store where I can exchange or return it directly to the buyer without having to pay shipping cost.
Customer Review: Cheaply Made/ Quirky Performance Summary: 1 Stars
I had high hopes for this humidifier (I own two). I hate the controls - they are slow to respond and the unit starts up irregularly. I tried cleaning the boiler plate after one month's use to no avail. I have since sent one of the units back (direct to the manufacturer as the Amazon returns window had expired) which will cost me over $21 (keep in mind I already paid $39....) - I am hoping for a replacement unit - or even better, a full refund. The humidifier is too quirky, a bit noisy and really just cheaply constructed. I make a lot of purchases on-line and pride myself on my shopping research - WARNING: Keep looking - this isn't what you are hoping for - trust me.
