I have purchased three of these units, one for my bedroom, one for the office and one for the cat room (yes my herd of cats have their own room). The filter and pre-filter on the unit can be cleaned and should be cleaned regularly. My allergies after the first night of having a unit in my bedroom were not bothering me first thing in the morning (crusty, gooey eyes, sinus congestion and sneezing). It took three days to clear me up fully but after the first night I was 90% better than without the unit running. The noise level the unit generates is White noise to me even when the unit is on high. I like to be able to turn on the ionizer when needed and to shut it off later. The ionizer does make a noticeable difference when ridding a room of odors. Buy it, you'll like it. I have had no problems as reported by a few here with quality control or fit and finish issues. Just make sure you don't install this unit in a room larger than it was designed to operate in. If you do you may achieve poor results.
Amazon and Honeywell cannot be beat on this one.

For 40 bucks it does everything it says.
It gets rid of an odored room within a couple of hours! - though, if you are using this machine in a big room (and it is meant for small ones) then you have to place the purifier accordingly to where the odors are, and then like magic it'll be gone if you leave it their by itself with the doors to the room locked for a couple hours. The ionizer helps to bundle up the dist in my room, creating clumps that are very easy to sweep up. Also, the low setting is super quiet, and great if you like a little white noise for sleeping. The next two settings aren't really loud either, but I use the low setting for sleeping nonetheless. Alos, the ionizer is optional which is relieving because past purifiers have every now and then given off an odd odor with the ionizer, though that hasn't even happened with this one yet. Also, the tiny thing is mad portable which is great for moving it to different locations easily. This machine does an awesome job and for only 40 bucks. Definitely satisfied.
Customer Review: Strong Enough to Cut the Smell of Guinea Pigs

After 5 years of life with the smell of two guinea pigs, we decided it was time to cut th odor out.
I researched products on Amazon and selected the Honeywell HTT-001 as a matter of economy and for use desired . I like that the filters are permanent because a)reduces waste and b)cuts costs.
I've had this purifier for two weeks, it's on 24/7 at setting *one* with the ionizer *on*. By day two there was a marked difference in air quality. By day four, I couldn't really smell anything (unless I was directly next to the cage for feeding and cleanings.)
Our 'boys' are housed indoors in the corner of our living room, which opens out into the dining area. Their smell was the first thing to great our guests, typically . Now I can hardly *smell* they're there.
The noise is minimal at this setting, but audible. Settings 2 and 3 were considerably louder, but the trade off may be worth it for those seeking an economic way to keep their air fresher.

I have read a few complaints about the noise this filter emits. Well, they may have a blade hitting the inside of the filter since I, with normal hearing, do not find it to be objectionable ten feet away from me, even on High. Or, perhaps an engineering change was made between mine and theirs. I believe their posts -- I am just saying that mine is whisper-quiet, even to much younger people.
Mine will pay for itself since I spend so much time at the computer, and I can run the air conditioner at a higher (more efficient setting) since my filter is near to the floor, and picks up cooler air, effectively turning it 90 degrees and acting as a cool fan for me, too.
I tested the opacity of the air in the room using a laser. The beam went from being visible 90 degrees from the beam to being invisible, so I put my light meter away when it went from 4 to 0.
All of what I said above was agreed upon by my 30 year old son and his girl friend.

This is my first time buying an air purifier. After reading the many positive reviews I decided on this one. I initially bought this for the living room (unfortunately - I smoke) it did ok but I think the room is too large and open for it to work effectively. However when I transferred it to my bedroom (8x12) and closed the door and put the purifier on high it worked perfectly - (I never smoke in my bedroom). The room "feels" fresh and I wake up MUCH less congested. It is a little noisy but it helps me fall asleep. I've had to wash the spongy filter twice since I purchased it but my house tends to be a little dusty.
The only problem I had when the air purifier arrived its' front cover did not fit correctly and I had to tape it shut. I should have sent it back. Usually Amazon's shipments are well packed this one was not which may have caused the problem.
Overall I'm satisfied and will probably purchase another for my home office.
