I found the other reviews interesting especially the negative ones. I purchased this unit to humidify my dining room and kitchen and it has done a wonderful job over the years. It is quiet but not silent. It does have a slanted top but that will prevent one from sitting stuff on top of it. The other reviews fail to note that it has a built in handle integrated into the slanted top which makes it easy to lift the tank and refill. Note the base does hold water and it is important the unit sits on a level surface. Due to nice rubber feet it is very stable. I like the small water tank fill opening which is placed in perfect position to use the handle in an upside down manner and refill it at the kitchen sink. If you overfill it the bottom is recessed & sealed. One simply needs to screw on the fill cap and turn it right side up and any excess water flows back into the sink. I also like the blue light as it is only on the front of the unit and lights my way at night as well as shows the water level well. If one doesn't like the light you can apply duct tape or white medical tape over the clear tank if you want! People, do not shy away from this product as it appears to be well designed, well built and does the job for a very reasonable price. The five year warranty sold me and four years after purchase I'm still pleased.
