I originally owned the Holmes version of the window fan. This one dominates the other version. The temperature/comfort setting actually works. It actually turns itself on when the temperature drops. It's not *that* sensitive but at least it's not just another on/off switch like other models.
The wind that it pulls in is cool and pretty strong for it's size. Controls are nothing fancy but practical and sturdy. If you have a big temperature discrepancy between the interior/exterior of your house like I do, this thing acts as good as a air conditioner.
Installation was a breeze if you don't obsess over it. There's going to be gaps. I mean the fan is just a tunnel and isn't filtered like the Holmes version which isn't a bad thing. In fact, the low setting is a bit too strong for my taste, I would have preferred a whisper quite speed.
It's a bit noisy and kinda hums, but it's a white noise, so it isn't annoying in the least.
Overall, a great buy.

Very powerful for a small twin fan.
Exhaust kicks just as well as intake.
Can blow in & exhaust simultaneously.
Side panels extend & lock in small steps, so no worries about the panels
sliding back in towards the fan when you're mounting it.
As for the noise ??
I have it kicking now both fans on the turbo-mode & it's quieter than
any previous fan i've ever had.
A quick tip for muffling sound.
Fit the fan by extending both sides.
Cut a few strips of insulation to fit all of the way across.
on the top & bottom of the fan in the window Then close the ledge fairly tightly onto the fan.
Add a few tiny pieces of duct tape to seal
the tiny spaces.
The insulation absorbs much of the vibration which results in a quieter fan.
This also makes for an air tight installation thus allowing for a real
vacuum effect for drawing in or exhaust

I am very very pleased with this fan.
By using this to pull in cool evening and night time air I am saving on air conditioning costs.
The fans push air as far as 14 feet in to my room. Not a great gush but at 14 feet from the window a very pleasant breeze. I'm very surprised by both the air moving efficiency of this fan and the relatively low noise level.
I'm buying another. Can't say more than that!
It's now April 2008 and I'm the owner of 2 of these fans. It's difficult to calculate how much these fans have saved me in aircon costs because of the year to year seasonal temperature fluctuations. Right now my neighbours are using aircon at night and I'm not. One fan keeps my bedroom cool enough all night and the other I use to cool the house during ther night drawing in cool night air leaves the groundfloor of my house cool in the morning.
I congratulate myself on 2 great purchases.

We bought this product at first to check if it really works as an exhaust fan since we moved to a house without one. I love cooking so I don't want the whole house to smell food.With this honeywell fan,I don't worry much about it. Also it can prevent the smoke alarm from beeping when you accidentally overheat the oven or stove because it really whoops the smoke out. During warm season,it gives extra cooling in the house when you turn it as a regular fan. The only thing is I couldn't find one in the store during Fall/winter(don't know why). We also use this asa present /gift for our friends and they like it too.
Thank you Honeywell for makinh this product. We don't need to break a wall or a roof area to have an exhaust.All I can sayis ; Honeywell is handy,affordable,flexible in terms of thermostat adjustment, safe to use and most of all dual ventilation advantage. Thank you.

This is one affordable product that delivers. My house is well insulated and frankly rather stuffy. I was looking for something to help the circulation and ventilation of the upper level since opening the windows just didn't get the air moving. This fan did the trick. I have cool fresh air from the outside and the stale hot air is going out. The adjustable panels on both side made for a snug custom fit in the window. This model has dual fans which are controlled independantly. This means you can set each of the two fans for a) speed and b) intake or exhaust. Wonderful! As for the sound level, I don't find this louder than any other fan and by no means do I find the noise level intolerable. I am actually ordering another right after this review for our bedroom window in which I have a large awkward box fan that got the job done, but I so impressed with this fan, I will upgrade.
