I bought this fan last summer to use in the living room of a small NYC apartment. It worked so well, that I bought another one this year for the bedroom. Both are great window fans. They make a bit of "fan noise", but way less than the air conditioner I use on warmer nights. There is no whining or rattling, described in some reviews, in either of my units. It's actually a peaceful white noise that helps me sleep, similar to a white noise generator that I use occasionally. This fan will pay for itself in a month or so, because I can leave the AC off, except for the occasional warmer night.
I got free shipping and my fan was delivered the next day. Great going Amazon!

I got this for my living room which has very high ceilings, even so the fan does a great job of cooling the entire room. I had been looking for one I saw at Target with an electronic temperature display but given others' good reviews figured I would just get this one. But even though this doesn't have an electronic display it still has a temperature control which you can adjust and turns the fan on and off automatically depending on your setting and the heat (I guess). It is really quiet but effective. I wish I had bought two so I could have one for the bedroom too, on cooler nights this would be just as good and much more energy-efficient than my air conditioner!Customer Review: Superior product in it's class.

I returned the Homes model after reading reviews about it and be totally disappointed with it. After purchasing this fan for $25 at my favorite French Big-box store, I was able to compare it side-by-side with the Homes model. The Honeywell blows twice as hard (yes it's a bit noisy) and has a reverse switch to blow hot air out of the house as well. Overall, I'm quite happy with this fan, especially compared the Homes model. It moves quite a bit of air for it's unobtrusive size. Window adjustments were a breeze and took about 2 minutes to install. Also helpful was an included bracket for vertical mounting if necessary. I have searched the internet and stores extensively for window fans and this one is the best I have found. I even bought and tried various ones rated high at consumer reports or other well known stores and found nothing better or more quiet than this. I smoke in the house but hate the smell and I leave this one on constantly with no problems. It is a little difficult to clean and every 2 years I buy another. In the winter I simply cover one of fan holes with a paper plate to avoid drafts. In the summer w/ variable exhaust or intake modes & 3 speeds for each fan it works great. Wish it was more stylish and had the ability to regulate the opening size per fan.Customer Review: Great Dual Fan for our Dorm Room

This dual action fan has provided a lot of cooling/ventilation for our dorm room that just has windows on one side of the room, preventing good air flow.
This fan is really 2 fans in one and you can have them both on "fresh air," both on "exhaust," or one on exhaust and one on "fresh air." Both fans have 3-speeds. This fan has had a major, positive impact on getting fresh, cool air into the room.
I highly recommend this fan for dorm-type rooms or for any situation where it is difficult to get good ventilation. There is also a temperature control. Good product, good price - would definitely buy again.
