Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HZ-2200 Mini Tower Surround HeaterCustomer Review: Love It!!! Summary: 5 Stars
We ordered this little gem when Florida was hit with the extreme cold weather in early January. Every retailer within a 25 mile radius of us was out of stock on space heaters, so we ordered one right away from Amazon. We received it promptly (as always from Amazon) and put it to use right away. The unit is small, and puts out nice heat at meduim temp settings and low fan. My wife and I like the small amount of noise it puts out (kind of like "white" noise - helps us to fall asleep). On the low fan setting, the noise is not bothersome at all. We use it in our bedroom, which is at the back of the house and is always much colder than the front of the house (living, dining, family rooms and kitchen). It will nicely warm our bedroom in about 15 minutes, enough to where you can feel it when walking into the bedroom. My wife especially loves this heater (she keeps it on her side of the bed at night). It is small and easy to move around the room - we move it near our bathroom for those cold mornings. Highly recommend this heater.
Customer Review: The Perfect Small Space Heater Summary: 5 Stars
This heater thoroughly warms my small studio (about 600 square ft.). Of the three setting modes on the left knob, fan only, low and, high, I usually need only the low setting and I set the right thermostat knob in the middle of the low-to-high span. Sometimes, early in the morning, if it's particularly cold, I'll set the knobs to high-high to warm things up rapidly; however, I have to remember to lower settings rather quickly, or it will become too hot and I'll need to turn on the 'fan only' to cool down the space a bit...
I like the heater's round design and its lever on top that opens or partially closes the louver inside for uni-directional, or surround-heat flow. The only thing the heater lacks is a handle: it can become too hot to pick up comfortably and has to be lifted with two hands by its bottom -- which is difficult. Cumbersome. For that reason, I keep mine on a low table on casters. I just roll with it...!
Customer Review: No louder than any product with a fan, Summary: 5 Stars
I almost did not buy because of some crying here about the noise. But decided for that price, I'd try and glad I did it is a very good product for its small size and the Noise, no more than you expect from any product with a fan.
I'm using in a 32x20' den with 20' of glass facing North, and it does such a good job I turned off all the other heat sources for this room, today it's running 50 degrees outside and the heater cycles on and off as I would expect, appears it is costing about 5c per hour to operate, I have a Kw meter on the outlet to measure usage for a few days.
If I were buying again I would probably buy the next size up so to get better directional control of the output, this one is 360 radius output only and the larger units you can damper down to 180 degrees radius on the output.
But couldn't be happier with this small investment. It's ready to plugin and go out of the box.
Customer Review: We really like the Honeywell Mini Tower Surround Heater Summary: 5 Stars
We really like the Honeywell HZ-2200 Mini Tower Surround Heater for use in different areas of the house and/or garage (next to husband's workbench or when working on cars). Shortly after receiving 2 of them through Amazon in Nov 2009, we bought 1 more heater from Wal-Mart. We like the portability, size, heat output, simplicity of use and the price, of course. It does not make much noise when running, allowing conversation, TV viewing or music to be heard. The heater is small and light-weight, storing easily in a small spot when not in use. It's short and attractive enough to not be an eye-sore, yet powerful enough for a single heater unit to heat our large Family Room w/ its cathedral-ceiling. Because hot air rises, we usually set the ceiling fan to spin in the direction that pushes the newly-heated air back down toward the floor where we can continue to enjoy it.
Customer Review: Excellent Room Heating Unit Summary: 5 Stars
This little unit heats two of our children's rooms (10x8 and 12x14) perfectly! Their rooms are normally around 63 degrees while the house is at 66, and this unit will elevate them to 75-80 degrees with very little effort. I know because I used an electric thermometer to measure the temperature.
Don't expect this unit to completely heat a room without the presence of a central home heating unit. Meaning, this unit will not heat a small cabinet in the middle of the wood by itself. But if you have central heating (baseboard or central-air) and keep the temperature low to save on gas bills this is a perfect unit! It's made to complement them.
The only thing that I wish it has is a digital thermometer so that I can set it at the exact temperature instead of doing it by feel. But then, it's so inexpensive I can't really complain.
