Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell HZ-2200 Mini Tower Surround Heater

Customer Review: Excellent!
Summary: 5 Stars

When my husband and I moved into our new home in May06, we found in the basement back room two of these heaters. We contacted the pervious owners and told them they had left the heaters, they had left them for us and told us these are good heaters and where we should place them in the house to help keep the bill down. When the weather begin to cool down we used these heaters, the house was warm. So we order three more and they help us to keep our heating bill down. They work very well and it does not take long for the area to heat up. During the day when we are home we turn on all the ones in the house and it is amazing how well they heat the house up, the cord does not get hot and they have a shut off componet, it is just a great product. I would reccommend this product to anyone who is shopping for heaters. I give it 5 stars! and label it Excellent!

Customer Review: Cheap reliable heater
Summary: 5 Stars

We've had two of these heaters for three winters now, and they have proved to be reliable and efficient space heaters. They've done a great job of heating rooms in two unheated California apartments, at this point. Put one in an enclosed space, and it heats it right up - put two in adjoining rooms to really keep things warm. The only downside I'd mention is that they do quite a bit of whirring - not overly noticeable day-to-day, but definitely there. They also put out a bit of that "heater" smell when you first turn them on. They've survived three winters of being on every other day and still work like they did when they were new - we've had disappointing reliability experiences with other heaters, so it's nice to find a model you don't have to replace every year. Overall, we have no complaints - especially for the price!

Customer Review: Does what it does well
Summary: 5 Stars

We own two of these units. We bought one to add supplemental heat to our infant daughter's drafty room and we have been very happy with its performance. We leave it on during nap times and at night and it doesn't get dangerously hot, nor does the cord get unnervingly hot, so we feel comfortable having it in her room. We also like the fact that the heat it generates doesn't make the room air excessively dry - we haven't had to overcompensate by adding more humidity to the room to make it comfortable. The fan also provides some soothing white noise! We use the other heater in our basement TV room, which gets chilly during the winter, and we appreciate it for the same qualities as mentioned above, though the noise does require the TV sound to be turned up a bit, but it's nothing oppressive. All in all, very satisfied.

Customer Review: Works well for what it was designed for
Summary: 5 Stars

This is not something that's going to heat your feet. This is not designed to sit next to you and project warmth on you. It radiates heat in all directions to warm the surrounding area. It's subtle, since it works to raise the entire room's temperature. That is what gives people the impression that this heater is underpowered and or that it doesn't work well.

First run had a little plastic smell to it but that went away after an hour or so. The thermostat is kind of touchy. Since there's no degree markers you have no idea where you're trying to set it. I have a digital thermometer to help me track where to nudge the thermostat to. After I found that 'sweet' spot I clicked the heater onto its low setting and let it work. Keeps up well enough and now I have a warm room for only 700 watts.

Customer Review: Nice, safe heater for a small-to-medium room.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had the heater for a couple of weeks. I purchased it to warm a large bathroom where my nonagenarian parent gets quite chilled when bathing. It does an excellent job of warming the room and keeping it ten degrees warmer than the rest of the house, and it saves me turning up the heat in the whole house just to warm that bathroom. It has several safety features: it turns off if tipped over, it has child-resistant ON knob which is nevertheless easy for old folks to turn! It is compact and sleek and light-weight to move; however, it does not have a handle.
I bought a second one for my son's downstairs room which gets colder than the rest of the house in winter, and he is pleased with it. I found the second one in a local store for ten dollars less than the on-line price...
