I purchased the Honeywell 17000 a few years ago but wanted to wait to see how it performed before reviewing. This is the best air filtering system I have ever seen. I am still using the original Hepa and have changed/cleaned the outer filter many times. This product performs above my expectations.
I originally bought it to set the smoke smell out of my bedroom. The fire dept told me to call a local professional. He wanted 300 dollars
This unit did the job on that and many other things including pet odors.
AND...it runs quietly

I don't have another air cleaner to compare this to so my words may not be of much help. I bought this air cleaner used and I'm very happy with it. It's not too loud, I can sleep with it on even on medium. It definitely works, especially when I've blown out a bunch of scented candles and the room is filled with smoke. The smoke hangs in the room until I turn the air cleaner on then it's gone in what seems like minutes. I have asthma, cats, dogs and birds, and my alergies don't seem to bother me much at all since I have had this air cleaner.Customer Review: Honeywell 17000 is a "honey" of a purifier!!

Approximately two months ago, I purchase the Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier. What can I say about this particular model? If you are looking for a quality purifier(for medium rooms)without spending a lot of money, this is the model you are looking for -- hands down! At low setting, the "white noise" helps me sleep at night, which is the primary reason I purchased this product. I am totally satisfied with this purifier and never looked back! I highly recommend the Honeywell 17000!!Customer Review: wonderful

This is a great product. I read many of its reviews along with many other machines and landed on this one. Happy I did. It is quiet and over all a very good product. In reading other reviews there was an occasional one that stated it was not very quiet but that is not true in my experience. Its a machine and will not be completely soundless. Its in my 2 yr olds room who has a severe dust mite allergy and even on high he sleeps well. My rec room is a magnet for dust and pollen. I noticed a big difference once I started using this air purifier. Sneezing is now an occasional event, rather than a non-stop marathon.
The three settings (high, med, low) are a convenient feature. The low and medium settings are quiet enough not to overwhelm the TV and stereo. I use the high setting overnight or when no one is home. This product has made a big difference--highly recommended.
