Tools and Hardware Reviews of Honeywell TH8110U1003 Vision Pro 8000 Digital ThermostatCustomer Review: Great Product Summary: 5 Stars
If you want a thermostat that is pretty easy to program this one is what you need. I'm a heating and air conditioning technician by trade and this thing is a good design. I have had to program a lot of thermostats in my trade of work and this is the best I've seen . Its easy to read also. Has a large screen that has a lot of light so you can read it well. You have to touch the screen to make it light up. Nice and bright. The temperature is real accurate also . It holds the temperature at 1 degree of your set point. The instructions are pretty easy to follow also. Its also pretty easy to install also. With a digital thermostat you don't have to fool with setting your heat anticipator on it. Just hook up your 4 wires and your done. It also has a 5 year warranty. When you buy a cheap $30.00 thermostat that the home supply stores sell, they dont last long. Honeywell in my opinion is the best on the market. Very good quality. My last Honeywell thermostat lasted 18 years. It will pay for itself by the energy you can save by programming your thermostat. Energy bills are not going to get cheaper in the future.
Customer Review: Vision Pro Summary: 5 Stars
I use these in commercial buildings as they have a very flexible programming and auto switch from heating to cooling. I have 6 in service now. I like that I can set a schedule and forget it. Also can lock the schedule and either allow just the temp setting to be adjusted till the next period or not allow any adjustments by the tenants or employees. (If someone turns on the heat in the conference room and forgets to turn it off, it will go back to the scheduled temp automatically when the next scheduled period starts instead of staying on all night or weekend.)
If adjustments are allowed you can limit how low the AC can be set and how high the heat can be set. We don't allow the AC to be set below 76 or the heat to be set above 72.
Once the initial setup is done, the programming of the schedule is easy and intuitive. You can do multiple days at once or one day at a time. The schedule can be different every day if necessary. Would be just as good for residential applications. Great stat.
Customer Review: The easiest programmable thermostat to program Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned 3 programmable thermostats, and this one is by far the easiest to setup. When I got an upgraded HVAC system a couple years ago the contractor installed this thermostat as part of the upgrade. He told me I'd love it, and I do. Everything is programmed via the touch-screen, and there are no buttons or slide switches to wear out over time. Very intuitive.
My ONLY complaint, and it's a small one, is I'm used to thermostats having an adjustment or setting which defines how low the temperature must go below the set temperature before the heat comes on, and how far above the set temperature before it shuts off. Of course, reverse that for air conditioning. This minimizes on-off cycling. This unit has no such setting. It appears to try to maintain the temperature to within half a degree. Nice, but I'd like to minimize the wear and tear on my system by setting that threshold to 1 or even 2 degrees.
I WOULD buy this thermostat again though, even given the above.
Customer Review: Works great, easy to install and program Summary: 5 Stars
I replaced a perfectly good 7 day programmable one with this model, because this one has a lighted screen, and vacation mode.
1) The lighted screen only works if you run a wire for continuous power from the furnace. Maybe you already have a spare conductor but I had to run a separate wire since all mine were in use.
2) The vacation mode is great, and easy to program. No more going away for a week and coming back to a cold house, or having to ask the neighbor to turn up the heat (we live in Minnesota). Now I just enter the number of days to be gone and what temp I want to hold at. After those days it reverts to normal program. This feature alone is worth upgrading if you do any traveling and live in a cold climate.
3) The text on the screen is a little small, but I can read it w/o my glasses.
Installation and programming are very simple.
Customer Review: Best thermostat you can buy, and NOT hard to install Summary: 5 Stars
First, if you know anything about installing thermostats, it's no harder than any other. In other words, there are 4-7 colored wires, and you have to put them in the right place. That's it.
Now, for the thermostat, it is just beyond good. From the easy programming to the flexibility of the options, to the FULL AUTO mode so you never have to worry about switching from heat to cool again, it's a set and forget job. And the options for temp and holiday hold, the circulation feature that keeps your whole house more constant, etc. Great.
Remember, this is a single stage model, but there are slightly more expensive versions for multi-stage setups, so choose the right one. Most people will be fine with the 8110. Even if you live in an apartment or a rental, buy this, install it, save money, be more comfortable, then put the old one back before you move out. it's worth it.
