I installed this thermostat in my new home to replace the cheap builder installed thermostat. I love this device. It provides a touch screen controlled menu of functions. My favorite is the fan recycle function which will run the fan only approx. 20 minutes per hour. This recirculates the air in the home and more equalizes the temp throughout the house. It also helps to better filter the air.
An option for this thermostat is for an outside temperature sensor. I don't have it but it supposed to sense how long it will take to return the home to a new set temperature based upon the outside temperature. It will then start your system at that time.

Despite daunting installation instructions, including the admonition that only trained professionals should do the installation, actual installation was very easy. A peek behind my old thermostat revealed just 4 wires - red, white, green, yellow, each connected to a terminal labeled R, W, G and Y respectively. This Honeywell unit has the same color terminal designations. The hardest part turned out to be ensuring, for esthetic reasons, that I installed the case level since the top edge is slightly curved.
Ease of set up and programming was impressive.

Our office had 6 thermostats - all different. They were all difficult or impossible to program and with 50% hike in Natural Gas prices expected, I talked the boss into buying these. It took about an hour to install and program all 6 t'stats. It was extremely easy and the programming is so intuitive I only had to look at the manual once - to set it up for two program periods instead of 4 - not something you'd need in a private home. This thermostat is first class! That is why I am ordering two more for my own home this week!!!Customer Review: Second purchase

This is the second Honeywell Vision Pro 8000 I've had. Easy to install, easy to program, and works great. I have a forced hot air gas heat system and central A/c. This unit has many programming parameters such as wake, leave, return, sleep, and 7 seperate days to program if you wish. Or you can select all weekdays seperate from weekends. If you want to raise the temp a little over you programmed temp you just touch the up arrows and it is done until the next programmed event, or you can lock it in at that temp. Works great. Best feature is that you can select multiple days (any subset or all of the 7 days) and set the AM wake/leave and PM return/sleep to be the same with just first clicking on the days you want and then setting the time/temps: it will apply to all selected days. Very easy to use. If I wanted to quibble my complaints would be: a) the move temp up/down buttons are just a tad too small; and b) it would be nice to have a 14 day cycle option in addition to a 7 day cycle.
