Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hoover Tempo Widepath Upright Vacuum, Bagged, U5140-900Customer Review: Just like in the cartoons!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Well if you are on a budget or you are a snooty rich person who demands only the best like Dyson,Oreck or Kirby, You should consider buying this vacuum. On second thought just buy it. Look no further. The price is DIRT cheap, The power of this thing is unbelievable for the price. And it is a Hoover after all. This is the only vacuum that I have found that actually picks up cat hair with the attachment hose instead of it just sticking to the brush. I have a large shop vac and I think the HOOVER U5140-900 TEMPO WIDEPATH BAGGED UPRIGHT VACUUM has more power. Example: I was cleaning the cat hair off of my chair by the window. I went to move the cushion so I could clean the sides off and b4 I knew it the curtains were being consumed by this thing. Along with my t-shirt my socks, my girlfriends underwear, my underwear, the cats underwear,??? the cat, The bedspread, the bed, all the items out of the closet, the night stand, the dresser, and my girlfriend. It took awhile to extract all of these items out of the bag except my girlfriend, she can stay there till I throw the bag away, but anyway it was all clean as a whistle, my bedspread had been dry cleaned our laundry was spring fresh the furniture was polished and the cat was declawed and nuetered. What a wonderful machine this is. I also used it to capture the evil monkey that lives in the hall closet and the escaped convict that killed 2 guards and robbed that bank. I even got a $10,000 reward. So this thing has paid for itself along with paying off the final payment on my private island near Fiji. I even had some left over so I bought a taco supreme and a burrito. So I think that if you dont buy this thing with all its incredible features and benefits, the brain has already been sucked out of your head. Did I mention it is also cabable of towing a full travel trailer while towing a Review: Good Value For The Price Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this vacuum about a month ago and I have used it several times now. I originally was going to purchase a Dyson because I was tired of buying vacuum's that always give out or looses suction after a year or so. I decided to give this Hoover Tempo a try first since the Dyson is so incredibly expensive and I am struggling with the idea of paying so much just for a vacuum. I figured what have I got to loose if this one gives out in a year or so? I would still be ahead in the pricing game. I am not one bit disappointed with this Hoover Tempo. It has been working beautifully. It has awesome suction and power. I especially like the fact it has a bag with all that I have been reading about allergies (bagless is NOT good if you have allergies). Everything I read says a bag style vacuum is the way to go when you have allergies and all the Dyson's are bagless. This Tempo is lightweight, easy to push along, and has been easy for me to clean my stairs with. I have two dogs and it picks up the hair with no problem. It is much better than my other Hoover that was a LOT more money than this one was. I am very happy with the Tempo so far. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong with giving it a try.
UPDATE!! It is now 9/26/10.....2 1/2 years later and my Tempo is going strong! It still has incredible suction. I am so happy I purchased this product instead of spending several hundreds of dollars on a fancy vacuum like I originally wanted to. I stick by what I said before: For the price, what do you have to lose? I love the fact it has a bag system. I have read and heard so much negativity about bagless vacuums and the allergies they cause. We have 2 dogs and 3 people in our two story wood floored home. We have carpet on our stairs and in one bedroom. The Tempo works wonderful on all our flooring surfaces. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
Customer Review: Best inexpensive vacuum I've ever owned. Summary: 5 Stars
After using a couple of of bagless upright vacuum cleaners, I had become fed up with the filthy chore of dumping the dirt cup and cleaning all the extra filters needed to keep the dirt out of the motor. Since bagged vacuums are hard to find in retail stores, I decided to check out the selection on Amazon and read the reviews. That's where I stumbled upon the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo. Based on the numerous rave reviews, I took a chance.
The first time I tried the vacuum, I was amazed. It has a stronger suction than any other upright vacuum I have used including models costing twice as much. My wife and I noticed how much cleaner our carpets appeared after just one use. Months later we are still impressed with how well it cleans each time we use it.
Plus the HEPA filter combined with an allergen bag keeps the air much cleaner than with other vacuums. Very important at my house since my wife suffers from allergies and asthma. She no longer complains of any reaction to dust in the air after vacuuming. And I noticed how much cleaner the air smells after using it. Other vacuums seem to put a fair amount of fine dust into the air. Not this baby!
There are some drawbacks to this vacuum. The included tool set is very basic. The hose that detaches from the base for use with the tools is rather short. And the power cord that comes with the vacuum is a bit shorter than I would prefer. But the cord length is easily fixed with a heavy duty extension cord, and in spite of the short hose I find it is adequate for most jobs.
For the price, this vacuum is hard to beat. If I ever needed to buy another vacuum, I would gladly buy this one again. It is inexpensive, it really sucks the dirt out of your carpet, and it is much cleaner to use than any bagless could ever hope to be.
Customer Review: Hoover u5140-900 tempo wider bagged upright vacuum Summary: 5 Stars
I never review anything when I first get it. I use it for awhile. Because it looks nice and runs when I turn it on doesn't make it a great machine.
This definitely a good deal. I am a church janitor so it gets lots of use.
-It arrived at my door ahead of schedule.
-It really sucks. As long as it isn't in the lowest position it edge cleans very well. This is just suction of course so if it is set to low obviously it can't edge clean.
-The 25 foot cord was to short so I cut it off and added about 15 feet. You wouldn't want to add much more though or else the cord will get to hot when it runs for an hour or more at a time.
-The on board tool holders hold the tools very well. I don't think I have ever lost one off of it and had to pick up like seems to happen with many vacuums.
-One thing that isn't good about it is the bag full indicator. It's a joke. But it doesn't matter to me because I carry up and downstairs by the handy carrying handle built in over the bag holder. It doesn't take long to figure out that when it starts to get heavy the bag is getting full. It's easy to open and check, too.
-The last vacuum I had and one of the others I still use when my wife steals the new one is a bagless. I wouldn't take a truck load of bagless vacuums if they gave them to me. The filters are always plugged up. They talk about how great they are because they are so easy to dump without making a mess. They don't mention the mess cleaning the filters make. Besides the huge dirt canister on most of the bagless makes impossibe to get under low stuff.
-I think they should have a dimmer switch on the headlight because it will momentarily blind pets hiding under stuff from the vacuum.
-I don't think you could find a better vacuum even for a lot more money.
Customer Review: So far, an Excellent Vacuum! Summary: 5 Stars
As they say, you get what you pay for. But with this vacuum, so far, there are no sale gimmicks. You get every cents worth of your full ~$50!
On first use, I started pushing it around and noticed it wasn't picking up anything. As I recollect another reviewer here stating the same thing. Checked the bag & it was clean. Was there a blockage somewhere? No. The only thing malfunctioning was the fact I hate reading directions and just expect things to work. You need to hook-up attachment hose in order to provide vacuum to the bag & lower unit!
My last Hoover was an expensive (arm & leg) HEPA filter vacuum purchased 4-5 years ago. It was a piece of cr*p with nothing but problems. And, the so-called HEPA filter costed $50+ and required replacements after almost every vacuum of the house!
Well, I always try to give everybody a second chance and, after reading the reviews on Consumer Reports (etc), this was rated the best for the money. Plus, I didn't want to spend as much as the last vacuum.
I must say, after first use. I am so glad I bought this one. With this bag vacuum, I have all the suction I could ever want! I can also man-handle this puppy with ease. And, the bags only cost $2-3 each!
Warning for little kiddies, this is the *REAL* Jaws! It will devour anything using the attachment wand. Plastic bags, bathroom drop carpets and probably the kids too! Well, needless to say, let's hope nobody gets any crazy thoughts with the suction power of this vacuum. Because it won't be pretty in the ER. lol
I would buy several more of these if I had additional houses to maintain.
