WHITNEY DESIGN offers this 3-piece pole assembly for use in setting up a clothesline drying system in your yard. The pole is made from 2" diameter galvanized steel and the three pieces fit snugly together. This post also works as an accessory for the #15-7 WHITNEY DESIGN 5-line outdoor retractable dryer. It is shipped with the bolts and nuts for mounting the receiver bracket, a plastic ground sleeve for anchoring the post into the ground, and a plastic post cap for the top of the post. We love air-dried sheets, towels and clothing. You can't beat the smell. We also wanted to have a washline that disapeared when not in use so that we could use the backyard for entertaining. This unit, consisting of the post and reel (sold separately) works beautifully. The tensioner and reel lock keep the five lines taut and you really get 35 feet X 5 separate lines for a total 175 feet of clothes hanging space.
Some friends say their HOA's won't allow washlines. The current financial state of the nation makes most of them back down if you challenge your right to go green and save electricity or gas used in dryers.
My sheets are soaking up the sun right now as I'm writing this and tonight I will luxuriate in the smell and feel of them as I slip into the best night's sleep ever.
