Someone wasn't thinking when this was made. The way this holder is woven allows for jagged edges to stick into the TP compartment. Guess what happens? It rips the TP when trying to put it in or take it out. If you have individually wrapped TP rolls, you may get it to work but I buy my TP in dozen packs.
Overall just avoid this and get something else. I should know. I returned this and bought something else.

Oh how I wish I had read the reviews before I purchased this item. I bought it as a "frequently bought together" package, I really was only shopping for a magazine holder. It's true what everybody says, it will shred even the smallest roll of toilet paper.
