Tools and Hardware Reviews of Whitney Designs 3-Wheel Shopping Trolley CartCustomer Review: Excellent out of the box Summary: 5 Stars
So far I could not be more pleased with this cart. I received it in february 2010 and I have been dragging it up and down stairs, through and over snow drifts, wet roads, shallow puddles and some damp but firm grass and it is holding up well. The tri-wheel design is really great at going up curbs and stairs etc. but is not quite as well adapted for going down them. What you see in the photo is exactly what you get, and as shown it will stand on its own, empty or heavily loaded -- no problem. Both the metal frame and the bag are well designed and well made. The entire unit is light and easily managed and will fold up to about half its normal length for storage. The bag has two pockets for a small purse, wallet, cell phone etc, one of which has a velcro secured flap. The handle has two nobs that one can hang a purse or small bag on. The only assembly required is attaching the bag to the frame via two snaps and some velcro. The shipping was about $20.00 and I believe it took between a week to ten days to arrive.
Nothing is perfect and I do have minor complaints. The piece of fiberboard? that is included to reinforce the bottom of the bag looks and feels cheap but, it does the job and who's going to see it? Also I am about 6' with long legs and I would have perfered the handle was a few inches longer.
The frame is quite light but it has held up well so far despite the fact that I have been quite hard on it (manhandling it over three foot snow drifts and banging it down on the pavement etc.) but, I have only put about 15 miles on it and I am not 100% sure as to how long the wheel assembly is going to hold up -- I will keep you posted. Of course, if you plan on treating it like a civilized urbanite as opposed to an exurban gorilla I expect that it will provide long and faithful service. Five stars.
August 19, 2010 Update: The cart has seen moderate use since my original review. Typical round
trip is 5 to 8 miles and it is fairly heavily loaded on the return leg. Except for the minor complaints listed above I could not be more pleased. My five star rating stands.
