Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Earplugs no Cords (200 ct)Customer Review: Excellent earplugs Summary: 5 Stars
These are very nice, with a smooth finish that's not itchy, and good noise reduction. I've used the green ones, orange ones, yellow ones, solid rubber ones of various designs, and these work the best for me. I roll them tight and put them in as far as they'll go (until I can taste 'em!) for the quietest results. Good for working around engines, motorcycling, sleeping in cheap hotels, etc. If you're really into saving money, you can run these through the washer in the pocket of your jeans and they'll come out looking like new. After a couple washes, they don't compress properly, though, so there's a limit.
One thing to keep in mind is that they expand faster when they're warm, so if they're warm when you roll them, they'll likely expand before you can get them into your ear, making them difficult to put in and severely limiting their effectiveness.
Something else I've found, which applies to other soft foam earplugs as well, is that you can use scissors to cut these down to a shorter length if they tend to fall out while you're sleeping. Just be careful to make sure you can still get a hold of them to pull them out!
Customer Review: By far the best Summary: 5 Stars
I got hooked on earplugs my second year of college when I moved into on-campus apartments. It was so loud that I needed earplugs to sleep, but I went through many terrible earplugs before finding these. For whatever reason, many other earplugs are designed with incredibly itchy material or design. Many times I even woke up with bleeding in my ears because the earplugs aggravated my skin so much in the night that I scratched away at it. Many other times I'd wake up in a panic because the irritating earplugs didn't have tapered ends and through my fussing with them in my sleep, they'd get pushed so far into my ear canal I couldn't get them out with my fingers (the panicked feeling an the getting out of bed to find tweezers to remove them always made it hard to get back to sleep and since better sleep was the purpose of the earplugs, well... they didn't work out.)
The tapered end on these prevents them going too far into the ear. The design and the materials are super comfortable. The price is great. I just love these.
Customer Review: Great ear plugs! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these to be used when shooting (rifles/shotguns). Haven't tried it for that yet, but we did use them the other day at Monster Jam (Monster trucks). We were on the front row, right in the center of the stadium! Without these in our ears the 1000-1500hp trucks really hurt the ears. It was a very odd sensation, but you could literally feel the inside of your ear pulsating with the sound of the engines! We decided to put these in since we'd brought them (in their very convenient pillow packs I might add!), and were amazed at the difference! Just roll them up, and stick them in your ear. We immediately noticed the difference as the foam expanded to fill our ear canals.
At one point both my girlfriend and myself took the plugs back out because we felt we were missing some of the experience by not hearing enough, only to quickly stick them back in because of how loud the trucks were. I was very impressed by the amount of sound they blocked.
Great buy, I very strongly recommend them!
Customer Review: Shhhhh... Summary: 5 Stars
When you work night shifts, you need 2PM to sound like what everyone else expects 2AM to sound like. The light gets blocked with black-out shades and an eye mask, but the noise gets drowned out by a white noise maker and a good pair of ear plugs. I've been doing this for years, and have found that the most expensive ear plugs were not the best for me. So far, the Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite plugs (I buy the non-corded...I'm in bed, not at work) have worked the best. A key factor is how the ear plug feels in your ear; these gently but completely fill out the ear canal without pushing against it. This effectively gives me quiet without the irritation against the ear canal that keeps me from staying asleep. The orange 3M plugs are a close second, but they do tend to exert enough pressure to be noticeable after a few hours. As other reviewers have mentioned, some of this depends on the size and shape of your particular ear canals. But if you're like me, you'll find the Howard Leight LL1 earplugs to be the best.
Customer Review: Love love love this product!!! Summary: 5 Stars
These ear plugs are life changers. While I used another ear plug previously, I tried these after reading reviews, and am now a believer. You can roll them into a cylinder and they hold their shape much longer, making insertion easier. They also last a really long time, I reuse them over and over again, and I expect the box to last for years! One tip - I snip a tiny bit off the wider end, because they are still a drop too long for my ear canal, and then the fit is perfect. These are great for people with narrower ear canals who are uncomfortable with larger ear plugs. With these my sleep has totally changed, I can sleep much more deeply and can go anywhere, hotels, noisy cities, etc, without fear of being awakened by errant noise. Best of all, my husband sleeps better, too, as I no longer elbow him angrily all night long to stop his snoring. All this from a little earplug!
