Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 33222 Care-Free 2.2-gallon HumidifierPlus with Exclusive NiteGlo Night LightCustomer Review: Design defect Summary: 2 Stars
Worked wonderfully until the handle to the tank suddenly gave way while I was carrying the tank from the sink back to the unit after filling it. The tank crashed down, breaking upon impact, sending water everywhere. Thankfully no child or pet was underfoot when this occurred, as the weight of the crashing tank would have been great. The handle is attached with only a single plastic peg. Recommend against relying on the handle alone when carrying.

I bought this product April 23,2006, and started noticing water spiting out rear grill. The screws inside housing are starting to rust. I think they should of used brass screws. Its a little noisey on high setting, low setting is a bit better. I am sending it back to hunter and they are sending me a different model. Ill give it a second try. I do own a very nice ceiling fan that I have had for over a year and no problems!
Customer Review: Too Loud, Couldn't Sleep Summary: 1 Stars
My kiddo ended up with Croup and we were looking for a quick way to easy the cough. I ran to the store at 10:30pm and was pleased to see this item on the shelf. It was from Hunter, a brand that I know and love, I figured I was in business. This was by far the most expensive humidifier on the shelf, but I didn't mind. It had a larger tank, and I, stupidly, assumed it was better than the rest.
Holy cow, was I ever wrong! I got this home, filled it up and got it in my son's room. Turned it on and WHOA! I figured the loud fan was just until the pump started (I followed the directions to turn it on high for 60-90 seconds). I waited it out and turned the knob to the medium setting - still loud. My kiddo woke up and asked me to turn that 'noisy machine off'. I figured he was just tired, so I waited an hour or so and tried again. Same outcome. He woke up.
And really? The $[...] frog humidifer in my youngest son's room was 1) quieter and 2) pumped out more of a mist. The Hunter model pushed out forceful air that doesn't feel moist at all. In the end, I learned my lesson. This sucker went right back in the box and right back to the store. I picked up another Crane Adorable Humidifer for $[...] at Target and was a happy mama. Much better - even more adjustable [...]
Save your money and go for a different model. One that lets you sleep.
Customer Review: Don't Waste Your Money Summary: 1 Stars
Everything that everyone says is absolutely true. I experienced all of the same problems. I called Hunter and they told me that I could either pay to ship it to them to fix it or I could take the unit back to Wal-Mart. I took it back to Wal-Mart, but they would only exchange it for the exact same thing. The next unit was just as bad, if not worse.
I ended up buying a Reli On humidifier (H-0565-0) at Wal-Mart. It is the best that I've seen. It was about $29. It is virtually silent, no matter what setting it's on. I wipe out the base when I refill the tank every other day because our water is so hard. It's so simple to clean, there's nothing complicated or intricate about this thing. It only takes literally a few seconds, so I don't mind it. My only complaint was that it was causing white dust in the room, but I bought a Demineralization Cartridge at Wal-Mart for about $6, which lasts up to 2 months, and the white dust is all gone. I've had this unit for almost a month and love it!
Just skip this awful Hunter unit!
Customer Review: "Care-Free"???? Summary: 1 Stars
This is truly a miserable humidifier. I got it in part because it is supposed to be antimicrobial. But mine got moldy and stinky almost immediately. I thought I'd gotten a bad one, so I returned it; and as a precaution began using a bacteriostat. This kept mold from growing, but after using it for a few weeks, I had a huge problem with mineral build-up. It literally creeps out of the seams of the machine, bringing dripping water with it. The "permanent pad" became hopelessly clogged, and no amount of cleaning helped.
After a few months the machine began spitting water if I used it on anything but low-speed. Drenched everything around it. Not that I could use anything but low-speed anyway, because this is one NOISY machine.
When I tried to turn it on for the first time the second season, I discovered that the motor had frozen.
It is truly difficult to imagine how this machine could have performed any worse. Pick any humidifier on the market and you will have a better machine than this one.
