Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 33252 CareFree Humidifier Plus with Exclusive Nite Glo Night LightCustomer Review: Good product Summary: 4 Stars
Hunter Humidifiers seem to be a hit or miss type of product. My first one lasted several years. The second one lasted 1 winter season then the motor on the fan burned up. When I mean burned up I mean it smoke but no fire on the 2nd one. I bought a 3rd Hunter Humidifier because I like not having to change the filters. Simple really just add a cleaning solvent and a antibacterial solvent to each refill of water then your set. If you feel the need to clean it was the filter and the pan in the dish washer. Wipe the top part from the inside of the unit and around the motor with a cleaning solvent (409, what ever).
The antibacterial and cleaning solution is not very expensive (cost me 5.00 for both) and common at Walmart.
Will it last forever? No but it is a good investment for your health. No Humidifer will last forever and not buying filters saves money.
Customer Review: Hunter humidifier Summary: 4 Stars
I just purchased my second Hunter Carefree Humidifier. The first one lasted 7 years. It had a lot of white buildup and when I cleaned it this year it didn't work when I put it back together. Not having to replace the filter is a big plus. I had hoped Hunter would put an opening in the top of the tank so that it could be refilled without removing it and flipping it over, but there isn't one. The tank is heavy after filling and is awkward to flip over to reach the handle. The unit is not quiet. The high setting is ever noisier on this new unit than on the older one; the lower setting is not too noisy; the unit gurgles as water is being taken in. I didn't need the night light, which is a bright blue. Regardless of these problems, I couldn't find another unit that sounded better overall for my bedroom at night. For the most part, I'm pleased with it.

i bought this humidifier for my daughters room. i like this humidifier, however, it does not have an automatic shut off which i do not like. you cannot just fill it and forget it. it has a nice big thank tho that does last a few days. it claims it is "care free" which i do not believe. unless you only use distilled water in it, you will get a nice black puddle of water on the bottom from minerals that must be poured out and cleaned periodicaly. i like that it has a nightlight, how ever my daughter doesnt like the nightlight so we dont use it often. i also wanted this one because it says it has a fan also, but the fan only turns on when the humidifier dial is on high, and cannot work independantly. i was prety disapointed with that. but over all its a good humidifier and keeps the whole room well humidified.
Customer Review: Better value for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased two different humidifiers and have used two others at work. I liked this one the best. It's not whisper quit but I like the white noise so that's not a problem for me. It's easy to set up and use. I don't believe there is such a thing as a "Care Free" humidifier. Everything that uses water is going to need some kind of cleaning. I use a oxygen cleaner about once a month. I fill a sink about 2 inches with very hot water and mix in the cleaner powder and let the filter "it's not really a filter but that's what they call it" let it soak for a couple minutes then rinse well. You can use the same in a spray for the rest of the unit or windex.
Customer Review: Very good humidifier Summary: 4 Stars
I have had other humidifiers in the past and spent a fortune on filters. If the units ever went dry, the filters had to be replaced because they became hard and useless. This model has an automatic shut off in case the water runs out.
The filters are able to be cleaned in vinegar and water,so, no more buying filters. The tank size is great.
I wish that that the humidity control was marked by the % of humidity. It is difficult to know where to set the control knob.
