I have an older two story home built in 1967 and the upstairs ceilings are just under 8 feet high. There aren't many modern looking fans that work on a lower ceiling. The huggers that I've found all have the same look of the brass fluted case with the flower shaped lights. Was looking for something modern and a bit more masculine and this was the one.
TIP: Make sure you use a standard light switch with it instead of a dimmer switch. First time I put it up it hummed like crazy, I was really bummed. Then I did some searching and found on the hunter site they say not to use a dimmer switch, that will cause the humming.
Also the light is either on or off and it's a florescent light. I did find the GE Kitchen and Bath natural light which looks good, just takes getting used to. Doesn't quite give you that warm glow like the standard incandescent light bulb.

We had our electrician install two of these fans: one in my office and one in the master bedroom. The fan locations are on opposite ends of our house. As expected they work great. However, much to my surprise, each handheld remote unit controlled both fans. Turning one fan on resulted in both going on. A quick call to Hunter customer service confirmed my suspicion: all fans are shipped on the exact same frequency from the factory. "Just change the frequency on one fan" the support person said. The problem is changing frequencies requires removing the fan from its ceiling mount. Luckily our electrician had some free time the next day to do the change. Problem fixed. Well sort of. My neighbor has the exact some fan. Occasionally, when he turns on his fan our fan goes on. Guess our electrician needs to make one more stop at our house!Customer Review: Just SEXY!

I was doing alot of research on a fan that had cherry blades and a similar finish to Stainless steel. This was the first fan that crossed my path. HD was way overpriced on this item when I shopped around and amazon had it in stock and I got it in one and put it up in no time.
The instructions could have been a little more clear to actually show what screws when to what part. It would have sped up my install even faster.
Fan is quiet and I like how how the remote covers the light switch so no one will be turning it on and off.

Energy Star rated, which I view as a big plus. The florescent light fully lights my bedroom and is not what I would consider "harsh" light. The remote control is fantastic, especially when going to bed because I do not have to get up to turn off the lights. The fan is extremely quiet and smooth ... I have yet to hear the fixture shake. Not only is the fan extremely functional, but it is pretty stylish, as well.Customer Review: Great Fan...easy to install

We bought 2 of these fans. The best thing I liked about these is how easy they were to install. While most fans need a second person to hold the base while you wire it into the ceiling, this one allows you to hang the base on the junction plate hook while you perform the necessary wiring. Which means I could have done the whole thing without help. A pleasant surprise.
