Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 30730 Quietflo HEPA Small-Tower, Three-Speed Air Purifier with Ionizer

Customer Review: Service in Iraq
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this unit as a gift for my soldier son. I shipped it to Iraq. My boy reports great satisfaction with its' service in his living space.

Customer Review: Would not recommend
Summary: 2 Stars

The reason I would not recommend purchasing this item (Hunter 30730 Tower Air Purifier) is that the price of the filter seem way too high priced for what the replacement hepa filters cost. At almost $30-40 a pop, depending on where you buy them, plus the carbon filter that has to be replaced as well, you can almost buy a brand new purifier. At some warehouse stores, you can buy TWO brand new purifiers for about $125.
The Purifier works fine and seems to do the job it says it will do but until they lower the price of the hepa filters, I'll continue to regret ever buying two of the purifiers.

Customer Review: "Quiet"flow it is not!
Summary: 2 Stars

To be effective, this unit must be on the highest speed. Do not plan to have a telephone conversation while standing next to this unit as it is very loud. Absolutely cannot be used while sleeping while in the highest speed. Sure it works, but if you are even the slightest sensitive to noise, this is not the unit for you.

Customer Review: Seems to do no good - more plastic junk!
Summary: 1 Stars

I was given this purifier (actually the similar 30748) after my landlord ordered to help with a neighbor's smoke. I had ordered a Surround Air 3000 for myself. I plugged this in and noticed how loud it was. The filter is like an accordion folded sheet of vinyl fabric single thickness. The unit emits air that smells like burning plastic for lack of better term - very strange but the unit is working fine or at least blows air. It actually makes the air smell worse that the smoke almost.

The Surround Air machine has a very thick paperlike hepa filter and various odor filters. The air coming out of it is sweet and fresh, but still too small to handle my living room. Compared to the Hunter though, it is much much better. It would be my advice to spend a little more on a better product that something you will toss in a year or so when you need to buy a new filter and realize it was not that good to begin with. We do not need more plastic junk clogging up the landfill.
