Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 33202 Carefree Humidifier PlusCustomer Review: great humidifier Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this model for at least 3 years just like any humidifier ever made there are unwanted minerals etc: in water. Wal-Mart and other similar stores, sells additives which is helpful in any Humidifier made, which stops bacteria depending on how much is in your water and house it can create a yellowish buildup which happens on any humidifier.
I really like this one because it has a cascading water tower that humidifies better than just the evaporation effect most have. Which adds a lot more water to the air which explains, the need of daily refills.
Unfortunately there is bacteria, hair spray, dust, pet dander even when you cook there is oil or grease in the air from cooking etc: in the air that effects Humidifiers even the ones on a furnace have to be cleaned, I worked in Heating and Air for 37 years installed and cleaned more Humidifiers than I can remember, and even the central units need regular maintenance or they will grow things that look like slime and accumulate water deposits, which has all the contaminants of the air in your house as well.apple cider vinegar used on regular cleanings gets rid if it very good.
I like this better than my central unit because it is easier to clean, it disassembles easy it just snaps apart, clean cabinet with vinegar soak the media in vinegar rinse well and presto you are ready to humidify once again.
Of course it has to be filled daily which most people never see the inside of the whole house humidifiers installed in duct work, they have heat added in the duct and really bake the deposits in, but they do have an automaic refill float maintaining a level of water or similar device, so filling a portable humidifier is pretty normal daily unless it is a one room humidifier, used only at night, and it might last a couple of days, but if you run this almost constantly which adds humidity to the air much easier than boiling water in a pot, it will need refilled because it does what it is supposed to "HUMIDIFY" and when humidity is made it takes water and makes a bit of noise doing so. It does well humidifying an area in our house that which is approximately 1200 sq ft fine.
I would not recommend using it in a bedroom since all portable humidifiers make some noise, moving air makes noise, every removable tank type humidifier I have seen will burp, when the reservoir needs more water.
This one moves air and water so it would not be a good choice directly in a bedroom other than an occasional burp it is just makes an air moving sound I have never had any loud noises that sound like an engine running.
