Customer Review: This is the best hunidifier for Me
Summary: 5 Stars

I am sick and disabled yet i have no problem cleaning this . IT is dishwasher safe . Take off the filter like thing underneath the fan it just pops off . Then scrape it with a knife between the fan blades and the inner drum to keep the clearance up . Do it over a little trash can to catch the calcium diposits . Wssh the filter in the diswasher or soak in the sink then rinse the are without getting the electronics or motor wet . Takes 10 minutes then it runs like new . If you have noise it is calcium build up ..just clean . I bought a filter for the kitchen sink that helps a little too since I do have very hard water .

The nite light is very nice . The one flaw it doesnt turn off when it runs out of water it should . From what I can see it doesnt hurt it to keep running dry its just like a regular fan . But still it should just in case you go on vacation and forget it . Other than that its great . I have a 800 sq foot house and it takes care of the main floor just fine by itself . In a perfect world one should have a unit for their bedroom though also . I love it . Cheap to operate . Do 10 minutes of cleaning and you get a min of one , two or more weeks of quiet use . Its not silent but you get used to it . I guess if noise was a issue some disposeable ear plugs would solve that .

Shame on the people that throw it out frustrated by 10 minutes of cleaning . You dont have to get it perfect just keep clearance between the fan blade ends and the drum . Their is at least a 5/16 gap all the way around . Just take a knife and work it around scraping the mineral scale off . Work it up and down usually big chunks will fall off into your trash can or pail . Plop that filter back on the bottom , fill the tank and your in business . This is a great machine people arent taking the time to learn how to care for it . Lots of people can't afford one its a shame to just take a good appliance and throw it away at least give it too someone needy . This should work for years with proper care . It has a 5 year warranty . Thank you reviewer who explained disassembly but you dont need to do more than I am . I have had mine now in use daily since September . I used it 24/7 and it makes no noise but a whir until minerals build up in the drum ...just clean it .
PLEASE READ MY COMMENT UNDERNEATH ITS THE WHOLE SECRET TO HARD WATER USE A ADDITIVE AND YOU WONT HAVE CLEANING ISSUES AND BE FRUSTRATED . YOU WILL USE NO MORE THEN ONE OR TWO BOTTLES PER MACHINE PER SEASON .

Customer Review: Humidifier Not to Blame for Water Calcium Problems
Summary: 5 Stars

There are many reasons air can become too low on humidity. Winter often causes this to happen. In some areas, it is simply dry all year round. Dry air leads to dry skin. Since skin is your #1 barrier against infection, dry skin to lead to a host of problems. Never mind the discomfort of chapped lips, cracked fingers and a bleeding nose!

We have gone through many humidifiers over the years, trying different shapes, sizes and systems. One of the key features of this humidifier is that it has no filter. This is EXCELLENT. I cannot tell you how many humidifiers we've had where the company discontinues the model and now there is no way to get filters any more. It gets you in a cycle of always buying new humidifiers solely because there are no filters any more, even when the unit still runs perfectly. I am SO pleased with the idea of a filterless system.

I've heard from some owners that they have calcium crud in their water. You can hardly blame the *humidifier* if the water in your household has calcium problems!! That is a problem with the water you are bringing into your house, and it's a problem you can handle with either a system attached to your water line or by using treatment in the humidifier itself. To blame the humidifier because you're pouring calcium-rich water into it seems a bit silly. Also, this humidifier is brilliant because you can dishwash its parts. So if anything this is one of the easiest to clean humidifiers we have owned.

If you keep that calcium issue under control (an issue we don't have here, I should mention) then you don't get other issues with fan noise or crud build-up. The system runs very smoothly.

The water tank is very easy to fill up, although I admit I did find the shape a little odd at first. I've had other tanks which absolutely killed my hands to carry, either because they were extremely heavy or because they had sharp edges that dug into fingers. This one is easy to carry and, I feel, just the right weight. Not too heavy, but not so light that you have to refill it constantly during a day.

We have it set just over 50% for the room it's in and it maintains that without a problem.

Highly recommended!

Customer Review: The best I've found
Summary: 5 Stars

My house has forced hot air heating so winters are horribly dry in the house. Without a humidifier the humidity drops to below 15% at times. I went through a few different products over several seasons before purchasing this one. I've tried the ultrasonic varieties, the hot steam varieties, and the ones with the evaporative pads. The upside to this design is not need to purchase filters or pads, no fire hazard from an overheating element, and no white dust. There are downsides as well though. The unit is plastic and some of the parts are hard to get to to try to clean. I'm not taking off any stars for those downsides because the stem from a problem that is endemic to humidifiers which is the crud in your drinking water. The bottom line is that the only way to put clean water into the air from a humidifier that is maintainable is to run it with distilled water. Here is where I'm coming from. Where I live, after about three months of use it's almost impossible to clean the unit adequately. There was whitish (lime?) scale that hardens anywhere there is evaporation points, and a pervasive and crud and a mildew smell after only two or three changes of the water. I've been using these particular units for 3 seasons. I use a unit until it's uncleanable, then purchase a new one. At this point had I not had the same exact experience with a few different designs I'd be ranting about how much money I've wasted on a unit that cannot be cleaned. But here's the thing. You can't fault the unit for what's in your water. I've just purchased a water distiller along with another one of these humidifiers for next season. From what I can tell from my research, using the distiller will be cheaper than purchasing bottles of distilled water, and the upshot is that distilled water makes your coffee and tea taste better. Anyway that's my 2 cents. This unit, though far from perfect is by far the best humidifier for the money that I've found yet.

Customer Review: Low maintaince
Summary: 5 Stars

I've used this model for 9 days and its better than any of the $30 to $45 models I've owned that have died after 1 or 2 years and were a pain to maintain; either from cleaning and/or disinfecting. This is a larger unit, like a baby 3CPO for you Star War fans. I also purchased the $26 Brita water filter to cut down on scale. This should make a huge difference for any model. The parts that need cleaning are easy access. One part is dishwasher safe. I plan to only use the Brita filter for the humidifier and coffee, so the filter may last 1 to 3 years before it lets you know it needs a new filter. Some reviews say the fan is loud. Compared to the hot mist, yes, a big difference. But for the output and ease of cleaning, buy this unit. After 2 refills, there was a tiny amount of white power in the reservoir. Soak in white vinegar and you're done. Hope this one last for the full 5 years of warranty. You'll also like the humidity readout on the top of the unit. I checked it against another humidity reading unit and it was accurate. Hunter did a good job.

Customer Review: Easy to Clean - Best on the Market!!

HELLO ALL.
OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY OF CLEANING THIS MACHINE...NOT!!!
YES, THE FAN BLADES DO GET MINERAL DEPOSITS, BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RINSE IT OFF WITH HOT WATER USING THE SHOWER HOSE (CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE MOTOR UNIT SOPPING WET - SPLASHED IS OKAY). ANYWAY, WE PUT SOME DE-SCALER (FOUND AND ANY STORE) INTO THE WATER TANK. THIS IS MUCH MUCH CHEAPER THAN GETTING FILTERS FOR THE CONVENTIONAL MACHINES. REMOVING THE SCALE, WITH THIS, IS VERY EASY. ANOTHER TRICK - AS THE UNIT IS RUNNING, GET A CUP OF WARM WATER AND SLOWLY POUR IT INTO THE FAN BLADES - INSTANT CLEANING!
AS FAR AS WATER OUTPUT - YOU WON'T FIND ANYTHING BETTER. WE LIVE IN ARIZONA AND REALLY NEED THE MOISTURE - MY KIDS GET CROUP A LOT. THIS MACHINE HAS HIGH OUTPUT - A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE. I HATE USING FILTERS FROM CONVENTIONAL MACHINES - THEY ARE INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE AND BUILD UP A LOT OF BACTERIA. THIS MACHINE CIRCUMVENTS ALL OF THE NASTY STUFF - IT IS A GREAT MACHINE THAT IS EASY TO CLEAN WHEN YOU USE THE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE.
