We had a Honeywell, which we were so tired of frequent cleaning with bleach and vinegar. The filters weren't cheap. When the Honeywell's buttons stopped working, we thought we'd give this one a try since it was such a great value.
This one is so much easier to maintain than the Honeywell. We have the hardest of hard water, so use water from our reverse osmosis unit. There's no mineral buildup. Easy to clean. No filters to buy. The low speed is detectable, but it's quiet enough to sleep in the same room. We're in a desert climate, and it maintains humidity at a sufficient level in our large bedroom suite. (Note that it holds about a gallon; the 2.5 gallon indicates output. Also note that not all parts are dishwasher safe - not a problem for us because it's easy to clean as we fill it with RO water.)

I purchased this unit approximately 4 years ago after getting frustrated with the high cost of buying filters, wicks, etc. almost every year. This unit performs very well, has low cost maintenance and I recommend highly.
I live in the country on a well that is very high in mineral content. After reading the reviews regarding calcium/lime buildup I purchased a quart of the "Essick Humidifier Water Treatment" solution and use about one bottle(quart)per heating season. This does a great job of preventing the mineral buildup and what little is present is very easy to clean off with hot water. The other comments about being a "very high maintenance" item is due to their water supply - not a design problem of the unit.

I had a humidifier before which needed a filter. I hated it so got rid of it. This DOES NOT need one, so its fantastic.
I shopped around for 3 months before purchasing this particular humidifier.
I've used this product for a month now and really like it. The Niteglo feature is nice, but nothing fancy. I would say the features are:
- easy cleaning
- easy to fill water
- great display
Over all very happy and highly recommended.

I can`t be more happy with my new Hunter Humidifier. It does everything as avertised and works great. I fill it once a day and it keeps a big room at about 40 to 45 percent humidity. The blue night light is a nice addition also. It is quiet running nice display easy to read and set. I would highly recomend this product well worth the money.Customer Review: humidifier
