I love this fan. Looks great, works great. I've had this fan for 15 months, and use it several hours each day.
I'm thinking about buying another one to replace a bionaire fan that blows too much and is too loud, even on the low setting. This Hunter fan has a pleasant and quiet breeze on the low setting.
I prefer a mild hum from a fan. On a higher setting, the hum helps me sleep and reminds me of Grandma's metal fan that I loved as a kid. I don't use the oscillating feature often, but it still works fine so far. It does have a slight click when it changes direction.

I was looking for a really top quality, great-looking fan. One that looked and felt like it was made way back when things were built incredibly well and lasted a long time.
I kind of laugh at the fact that I had a cheapo, plastic Cool Breeze fan for so long. This fan is built like a tank, and looks sleek, retro, and all around beautiful. Its pretty darn heavy and I love the solid feel. All the knobs and lever are brushed nickel. I feel like one typically needs to pay way more than $50 for such quality, but not here. This is a GREAT fan and I'm super happy with my purchase.

I received the fan a few days ago. I was surprised how heavy the fan actually was. All of the parts are metal and it sits very sturdily on a wide base with eight rubber feet.
-The oscillation is super quiet. If you don't fully push the knob down for oscillate mode, it will click.
-The fan tilts but it does not tilt that much. It is meant for a table top. Not the floor or close to the ceiling.
-The grill easily comes apart so the blades can be cleaned.
I think this is a heavy duty appliance that's definitely worth the extra cash.

Nice heavy duty fan. This fan is really the best fan I have ever bought. It works as well as any other fan but the difference is that it is constructed quite well with metal parts throughout. I have had cheaper fans fall and break apart because of the plastic build. This will not happen with this fan. The fan works with the expected noise level; not whisper quiet but not very loud either. The looks of the fan are retro, you can picture this fan in the tv show madmen being used as a prop. Great fan, looks great, does it's job, and constructed incredibly well.Customer Review: Really Nice Fan

I bought this fan for my 1 1/2 yr-old's room because the room has poor air circulation. I was surprised by how powerful this fan actually is! I found no need to keep it higher than the first setting. Actually, one setting lower would have been just perfect for her room but most folks probably wouldn't want it that low. Anyway, it is a beautiful fan, a powerful and well-made fan, and I'm glad I didn't cheap out and buy a plastic one. The metal grate is secure and safe from little fingers (and big fingers) but I still keep it high up out of reach.
