The foot warmer was purchased for my wife. She's always cold. It is light enough she can move it easily where ever she decides to settle down and read or easily carry it into her office on days when she's planning on being there late (heat is shutdown after hours). It takes a couple of minutes for it to get warm, but after that it is very effective. It even can get too warm for using it, even with socks; anyway, you can use it with slippers or shoes.
I have been using it for a couple of weeks and no bad smells or anything bad so far. I think it's a good product.

I spend long hours at my computer and I keep my apartment at around 58 degrees. The floors however are cold and I wanted a heated foot pad or foot rest to warm my feet and legs. This was exactly what I was looking for. We have wood floors that get very cold in the winter and I work at my computer many hours a day. My feet always felt like ice cubes (even with slippers & socks). Now they are warm and toasty.
