4 months - that's exactly how long it took for my unit to stop powering its attached device. The digital screen still works great, but it powers nothing. Unbelievable. The piece of crap is coming soon to a dumpster near you! Don't buy this, seriously. Look at all the negative reviews here. I bought three or four of these because I like to program lights to come on while I'm on extended travel away from home and I was frustrated with those impacted by power outages.
A couple of points: (1) You do need to have the manual handy if you only use these periodically. The first few times I did "test runs" several days in advance to ensure that I got it set up correctly for multiple events, days, etc. However, after a few "goof ups" I have mastered the device. (2) As I only use them sporadically - I remove the "button batteries" after use and tape them to a 3x5 card - extending the life of the battery.
After figuring out how to program - I've had perfect results with these and highly recommend them for use where keeping precise time is a must.

I have owned their automatic light timers for my outside lights. I must replace them every 6 months. They just die. My electrician says its known that Intermatic puts out faulty stuff and, in my opinion, he's right. I only came across this product because I am looking for other timers to replace my outdoor timers.
AVOID this company's products.

I used mine for outdoor low volt lighting. One worked fine but the other melted from the heat of the transformer. The transformer is warm to hot but I didn't think it would melt the casing and destroy the timer in two days. The two others worked well (one inside is fine) and the other outside and the low voltage transformer is ok as it isn't a hot transformer.Customer Review: Fail as expected (Based on other reviews)

1) Complicated to program - better keep the manual close at hand and know where you keep it for you will need it eventually
2) Unit failed after about six months light use to turn charger for electric toothbrush on and off. Perhaps I gave it the brush off as it expected a better task and it is malperforming out of spite?
3) Anyways after much resetting the unit, reseating backup batteries, reprogramming still won't turn on. I think that I am turned on into seeing how well it works in the trash can. May just need an attitude adjustment if it wants to get back on line?
4) For now a piece of trash.Made in China/Price in Dollars
