I love this timer. It does exactly what it says it does -- it adjusts for the changes in dailylight. It fits flush in the space.
Downsides are several but worth overcoming. Just be aware.
The writing on the unit is VERY small and hard to see.
The spaces are tight for fat fingers.
The unit fills the entire half of a switch box and in my case with new, thick wires and twist caps inside, I had to finagle and bend and adjust to make it fit the space. I had to remove the light switch next to it, use some of that space, and put the switch back in.
The programming is a touch confusing. So much so, that after I had given it my best shot, my wife had to do it to make it work.
But I'm glad I have it and would buy another the instant I had a need.

I (a woman in my early 60's) ordered this to replace a broken wall switch timer to control two overhead porch lights and a pole lamp. We have an older home and the switch boxes are smaller. This timer fit in the box perfectly; and because it only has three wires to connect and the instructions were very simple to follow, I installed it very easily and quickly. (OF COURSE: TURN THE BREAKER OFF!) The instructions to set it up were very straight forward and if you follow them, it's ready for the self-adjusting setting.
I then replaced my regular 40W bulbs with CFL's and it still works perfectly! They've been in for about three months - no problems. Better yet, my electric bill went down almost $10!

I bought (and installed) this timer for a neighbor and I did it with confidence given that I have two of my own. It's a great design with compact form factor and very flexible.
The following are some things to consider:
- the programming can be a little complex for the faint of heart but if you just follow the directions you can do it. And once it's done once you should never have to touch it
- the letters on the display are tiny so get out your headlamp and glasses - but except for programming it you really never have to look at the display
I love this product and the Amazon price can't be beat and even the shipping is not too bad.

I had a prior version that did not have the auto-adjust function. I loved that too, having the lights on when you want them without effort is great, but needing to adjust as the daylight changed was a bit of a guessing game. This one that adjusts by your area is perfect. Install it and forget about it, the lights are on when they need be and off when not, You can still set the relative on off times or do manual if you want. Easy to use and a great value. I highly recommend if you want your outside lights on at the proper time without any hassle at all.
Also, works well with CFC bulbs, so that makes things even easier as they last so long.

I purchased this unit to replace an older Intermatic unit that stopped working. The old unit used one AAA battery that I was replacing once a month (though the literature said it should last a year). The new unit uses a series of three watch batteries that are only needed in the event of a power outage. Nice, but it seems strange to me that I'd have a battery backup to power the timer when it's likely that the power will be out to the items it's controlling... Anyway, the unit installed simply and flush mounts to the wall -- nothing sticks out. It works great and I don't have to replace the batteries all the time. Great price, too.
