The astrological feature is superb! It adjusts to the changing time of the setting sun according to the location you live without a photoelectric mechanism. This feature a big plus since I no longer have keep adjusting the time during the changing seasons and daylight savings time. I owned the mechanical version of this timer a few years back but it tends to lasts about 2-3 years and I constantly have to reset the time. Because its digital, there are no moving parts, reliability is big improvement. It blends in beautifully with the Decora and Lutron Maestro dimmers I have thoughout my home. A bit complicated to program though.Customer Review: So far, So good!

The installation was simple enough and the programming was easier than expected. The product works precisely as described and I have had no problems with it. One of my favorite features is the internal battery that retains the time so it does not have to be reprogrammed every time the power goes out. I have only had it 2 months but so far so good.
One of the cons in my book is having to find the correct wall plate for this thing to fit in. I think the type is called decora and they aren't as plentiful as one would like (I had to find a 3 switch + 1 decora in white and it was not easy).

The EJ500C timer is to be used with standard base incandescent light bulbs only! It should not be used to control lighting such as:
* Compact Florescent
* Energy Saver
* Flood lights
* Halogen
* Mercury Vapor
* Christmas lights
* Candelabra bulbs

I bought two of these units. Installation was easy and so was to program them.The only issue I have with this item is that the buttons are too small and you need the head of a pencil or a tiny srewdriver to push them. For one of them, I did have a problem tripping the circuit breaker, which I could not figure out.
Once programed, they have been working as desired for the last two weeks.
I strongly recommend this product.

This is one of the best ways I've spent $20 in quite a while. I connected this switch to my outside garage/porch switch, and set the lights to come on at sunset, and turn off at sunrise. Now, when I leave the house for a full day and come home after dark, my lights are on to greet me. Set it once, and forget about it. If you want to manually turn the lights on or off, just press in the control panel cover. Highly recommended.
