Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic PR3C Three-in-One Emergency Power Failure LightCustomer Review: Intermatic PR3C power failure light works well Summary: 4 Stars
The Intermatic PR3C power failure light works fine. The " Three-in-One" description is a bit confusing, but when the power goes off, the light comes on, and it's bright enough for the purpose. When the unit is plugged in and the power is on, it gives off a yellowish light which is not bright enough to function as a night light , so I don't understand what that light is for. The unit only takes up one space in a receptacle, and also has a "pass through" feature , so you can plug any 2 prong plug into the front of the unit, and therefore not lose any net receptacle spaces.
This is a much better unit than the AmerTac lights I also bought.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 4 Stars
There is nothing fancy about this light, but it does the job. I ordered five; two were broken when they arrived. I returned them and Amazon replaced them. But they charged me return postage, which stinks. Shame on Amazon.
The good things about this unit include: it provides a good night light when the unit is in the "ready" position; the light itself has a large reflector that provides a wide beam in the room or stairwell; when the power fails, it burns at least 3 hours before it begins to dim a bit. The power has always come back on long before the lights have burned out.
Customer Review: Best combination power failure - night light I could find Summary: 4 Stars
This product is nearly perfect. Most combination power failure - night lights sold now use a small red LED as a night light. In fact they now call them "guide lights" because they really don't light up anything in the house to help you move around at night. This one has a neon bulb (so it makes a yellow light - not white) which makes a pretty good night light, even if it's not a white light. And when the power goes out, the light comes on, and then you can unplug it and use it as a flashlight.
Customer Review: Emergency power failure light a good buy! Summary: 4 Stars
This emergency power failure light was a good buy. It was one of the more inexpensive types but it works well. The only problem is that it doesn't work for long ... maybe 75-minutes or so. I solved that by buying more (I think I have 7 of them now). In a power failure, you can turn some of them off and then use them when the other ones go out. I have small children and they were too fascinated with the candles. This is a MUCH SAFER option!!
Customer Review: Short battery life Summary: 4 Stars
I did not notice how long the battery lasts after a power failure until I received the item. My parents have Alzheimer's and need coverage for several hours after a power failure. Using LED bulbs would cure that problem. Strength of the light is not so important as the time of coverage. Power companies frequently take half a night to resore power. All the features on this light were very good so I recommend it if time is not so important to you.
