I bought this timer to control my wireless internet in the house. The kids need to go to sleep sometime and they seemed to play on the computers forever, now the router turns off at 10:00 and is back on for my wife at 5:30. If it is the weekend I just hit the "on/off" button to let them play or talk longer. If I am mad at one for not carring out the trash while absorbed by the internet I just hit the same button and its off until the preset time or I hit the button again. Lovely
Oh! one more thing, the plug is piggy-backed by your appliance plug, so both plugs are at the outlet and the timer cord by itself then extends about 3 feet to allow it to lie on top of my desk, no clutter. Its Great

I read about using a lamp timer to help one get up in the morning (if one tends to ignore the alarm clock like I do). It works great for that. I love that I have programed it to turn the lamp on in the morning and the evening. The lamp I use it on is a cheap $10 torchiere from a big box store and the mechanism to turn it on is broken such that once the darn light is on for more than a few minutes and heats up, you cannot turn it on or off. Using the lamp timer, I can turn on/off the lamp with a touch of the largest button so having it meant I could still get some utility out of the broken lamp:-) I plan on buying another.Customer Review: Great timer....very easy to program.

This is perfect for using on your Christmas tree lights (plug is against the wall, but this makes the on/off switch accessible without crawling under tree). I have a couple similar models from this company and they have all worked great with no problems so far. It does take odd batteres (LR44/SR44); they are expensive at the drugstore, but you can easily find them cheap online.
Note: the light/appliance you plug into this thing plugs into the end of the plug, not to the timer body itself.

The complaints about turning on appliances, especially ones with a 3 prong plug, are valid. But for turning on lamps, I love it ! Best timer I have ever owned.
As for using up the internal batteries, mine have been in there for more than a year and are still alive. You can buy a pack of 10 LR44 batteries on eBay for $[...].
I plan on buying a couple of more. Unfortunately, the discount place on the Web where I purchased my last one ($8 +shipping) no longer carries them.

Excellent timer. Convenient as there are no pins to lose and it is easy to use and easy to set. My 85 year old mother-in-law loves it for its ease in operation as she has arthritis in her hands and the wall timers are not easy to turn on with the tiny knob. I ordered more for family members who thought they were great and easy! Two different time settings as well. A definite must.
