Tools and Hardware Reviews of Malibu 3 Pack Solar Landscape Plastic Flood Light Set with Remote Panel, Textured Black #LZ413Customer Review: Best there is, change the batteries though. Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this set for almost a year now. I replaced the three AA batteries with Duracell 2650mAh rechargeable, after the first two weeks. These are installed in a dog kennel (built as a horse barn). The solar panel faces south. The lights remain constant bright until the sun comes up and shuts them off each morning. I spliced in longer wires for each light so the distance from the solar panel is about 20 or 25 feet for each one. The light does not attract any bugs, no flies, knats, moths, nothing. Each individual light is directed into a different room of the kennel, and gives enough light that no additional light is needed to get around safely. I have electricity in the kennel, with flood lights installed also, but don't use them every time I go in there. These solar lights provide enough light for the dogs to get around safely at night, see their food bins, and water buckets, and I have one enclosed room for them (with electric heater) and the solar light I have in there gives them light all night. Mounted about 7 feet up, these lights do not give a light bright enough to distract from sleeping, but do easily provide enough light for safe walking around. Some mornings during the winter months they are dim, but these are during cloudy days, of several in a row, and most winter mornings the lights remain bright. Using the
Duracell Rechargable 2650 mAh batteries make an improvement in their length of time. I have tried other brands of solar lights, these are without a doubt the best ever. After 10 months of recharging in the solar pack, I have not yet needed to replace these Duracell 2650 mAh rechargeable batteries. Get these solar lights if you want bug free, bright blue-white light all night long, night after night, but I would replace the three AA batteries with the Duracell Rechargable 2650 mAh batteries to be sure of the best possible performance.
Customer Review: TOP OF THE LINE! VERY PLEASED!!! Summary: 5 Stars
First off im pretty picky about quality, and i have to say that the quality of the lights, is light, yet sturdy plastic.
The lights include PLENTY cable for running them far far away from the sensor/panel.
The Solal cell is Glass, unlike the ones i have bought in the past that were made from resin or plastic this one shouldnt crack and and i expect it should last at least 5 years or more...even the plastic ones i have and they are still running after 4 years.
Malibu delivers with their Rechargable batteries. The included are good quality. Good ni-cad technology can last up to 800-900 charge cycles.
I have dealt with these SAME batteries before in other units i have 4 years now and they are still maintaining to hold charge.
I AM IMPRESSED.
another Great aspect of this unit is they make a user friendly panel for battery replacement. It sure seems from the design that the designeres intended this to last at least as long as the Solar cell itself....which...coudl be many years from what im reading online about Solar cell technology.
Just to be extra safe i squirted Di-electric grease in each socket that the lights plug into to prevent condensation/outdoor issues from inhibiting the connection over long periods of time. I also did this to the battery terminals. After doing this i have noticed for years no i never have problems with connections.
after buying MANY solar lights for my backyard, i have to say this is the best set i have yet, I WILL be buying 3 more of these, at 30 bux a pop with free shipping..its a steal.
Customer Review: Cast some solar light on your expecations Summary: 5 Stars
I own a half dozen of the individual Solar Flood lights, another half dozen of the 3 packs (same light design X 3 connected to a single solar panel) and 3 sets of the Bollard style lamps.
Let me say upfront - NO Solar Light on the market comes anywhere near these!
HOWEVER, please note that Solar lights are not the same as conventional lighting. Once you understand this simple fact, you'll enjoy this product.
They cast a relatively intense beam for about 5-6 feat and then the light loses intensity. They will illuminate anything 5 feet away but after that, become accent lighting. This is an obstacle that Solar lights have stuggled to overcome since their inception.....BUT WAIT....
If you want even more power, take a look at Malibu solar's newest offering, the LZ6002 series on their website (Google it) - Full metal construction, 4 LED bulbs (vs. 3) and a much better design overall. It'll probably cost more, but looks to be the best Solar mini lights out there.
And finally, if even 4 LED bulbs just won't cut it, go ahead and purchase the Malibu LZ605RP Solar Floodlight - It's harder to find, but it has TWELVE LED Bulbs that cast a VERY strong beam through its focussed reflector. Definately the king of Solar floodlights under $60. If you can't find it anywhere online, call the company through their website and they'll sell it to you
Customer Review: SOLAR ENERGY IS HERE TO STAY! Summary: 5 Stars
JUST BOUGHT A THREE SET & AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PURCHASE. THREE LED BULBS IN EACH OF THE THREE UNITS. COMES WITH A BIG SOLAR PANEL, ALL THE SCREWS, PLASTIC MOUNTS, & EVEN FOUR PLASTIC GROUND STAKES. REMEMBER THIS IS SOLAR SO THE LIGHTS ARE MOSTLY TO SHINE IN AREAS WHERE IT IS TOTALLY DARK. THE LIGHTS THROW A SOFT HAZY PURPLISH GLOW(ALTHOUGH THEY ADVERTISE IT AS WHITISH BLUE LIGHT). RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX THE 1.2V BATTERIES COME ALREADY CHARGED & LIGHTS READY & BRIGHT. I PUT THIS RIGHT OUTSIDE MY FRONT DOOR SINCE IT IS ALWAYS PITCH BLACK & THE STREET DOES NOT HAVE ANY OVERHEAD LIGHTS TO LIGHT UP THE BLOCK AT ALL. I FIND MY NEIGHBORS DO NOT EVEN TURN ON THEIR PORCH LIGHTS EITHER. SO THESE LIGHTS LOOK BRIGHT SINCE THERE IS NO SOURCE OF LIGHT TO DROWN THEM OUT. MY ADVICE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS IS NOT TO OVER PAY FOR THESE LIGHTS. WAIT AND LOOK FOR A SUPER SALE. PRICE SHOULD RUN IDEALLY BETWEEN $20.00 TO $28.00 TO FEEL THAT THESE LIGHTS ARE WORTH THE ASKING PURCHASE PRICE. I ALSO RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY TWO SETS OF THREE(TOTAL SIX LIGHTS). SIX LIGHTS PAIRED TOGETHER WILL GET YOU A BETTER LIGHT BRIGHT COVERAGE FOR WHATEVER YOU ARE TRYING TO ACCENT.
Customer Review: the best darn solar flood landscape lights EVER!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 1 set at Walmart on the clearance shelf very cheap, took them home and set it up to charge in sunlight. The next morning I set them out where I wanted them and I couldn't wait to see how bright they were, and I was very excited that they actually really worked!!!! They were very bright! So I jumped in my truck that morning and went back and bought what they had left (only 2 boxes). I set those up where I wanted them and by that night they were charged up and working. THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO, AND THEY ARE STILL GOING STRONG!!!!! Well that was until my husband actually dropped a tree branch on the solar panel and broke it ( a very large tree branch, I might add). It didn't brake the solar panel, it broke the black plastic part.
I keep these outside, in direct sunlight, in 80-110 degree, scorching hot sun.
And wouldn't you know that when you find something as great as these are, malibu solar lighting stops making them, I cannot find them anywhere, I thought I found them here, but no luck.
WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU MALIBU LIGHTING,
NOW YOU ARE SELL CRAP.
