Customer Review: Almost makes pest control fun!

I know. I know. The title for my review makes me sound like a cold-blooded bastard. But, perhaps I'm battle hardened after having to DROWN at least 4 tiny field mice after they were caught by limb or tail in a traditional wooden "Snap-Trap". This relates to a problem I had about 5 years ago, while living in a Single Room Occupancy apartment. Mice were coming in daily! One day I found mice in both traps I'd set up, and then caught another one while I was trying to sleep! After snapping my own fingers and thumbs in the wooden traps, and finding one mouse SCREEACHING at the top of its lungs, when I got home from work one evening (actually, I'd finished work in the afternoon, but went shopping afterwards, so it may have been stuck like that for HOURS) I decided to give the little `clip-traps' I'd seen in the store a try.
They worked! Yes, the mouse slipped free a couple of times, but more often than not, they worked! And the ones that got away probably came back, because they were coming in day and night, 3 or 4 days a week.
(Incidentally, I used D-Con poison on a few occasions and was finding the rodent BODIES all over the place. I suppose I should be grateful that none expired within the walls of my apartment. But to go hunting for the source of an ungodly stench for 2 days, and finally pull a hiking boot from under the bed and see the thing stretched out over the tongue of the shoe! I kept pushing the shoes back and forth, under the bed, but never looked inside of them. ("Oblivious, you say?" YES. I see that, now.) After that, traps are the ONLY way to go for me.)
The manufacturer recommends Peanut Butter for bait. Since I'm allergic to peanuts, I avoid peanut products, so I never buy peanut butter anymore. I used a tiny bit of American cheese, pressed into the grate on the bait tray. The principle is still the same. They cannot `carry' the meal away with them. They must `lick' at it to get the flavor. They rest their weight on the tray and the trap snaps shut... with a VENGANCE. Yet, it closes softly enough, so that it will not cause injury to human hands or feet. This might be a safer trap for people with small (curious) children (as long as they don't attempt to put any part of the trap in their mouths).
The wooden traps can be a bit more vicious, in that more than a few times, the trap SNAPPED so hard that there was blood on it!
One more reason why I preferred these traps to the wooden ones.
And they probably WILL NOT work with something more that 2 inches in length. If what you are seeing are tiny 'field mice' these traps should work fine.
