I bought these to replace the same model that I finally killed after years of hard work. I have asthma, and I keep one of these in my bedroom, and one in each room with an exterior door. When the air outside is making me sneeze my head off, I always look forward to getting back to my "bubble" of clean air back home. (FYI- Just getting one huge air purifier is pointless, because none of them can clean the air through walls.)
You will want to keep it away from drapes or fabrics that you can not easily wash because this type of air cleaner causes things like dust and pet dander to clump and fall to the ground. This is most obvious within a few feet of the unit. It's not a huge problem, just something to keep in mind. They are very easy to clean and you never have to buy replacement filters. I keep mine running 24/7. They use very little energy and are completely silent if they are kept clean. Some other reviews have mentioned the units making noise after only a few days. This will happen if the air in your home is rather dust filled when you first start using them. Just clean them a couple of times, and the air quality should improve in your home. Also, in general, if you have breathing problems, you should check your house for air leaks to help stop irritants from penetrating your home in the first place. No air purifier on the market can compete with drafts and open windows. ( My friend Lisa complained about hers, but regularly had a window open. ) DUH!
Oh, the car ones are completely useless for the same reason. Auto AC's are always bringing in fresh air, even on the recycle setting. That little thing can't keep up with the constant influx of polluted air.

We live in an older building, which means we have mold. After the air conditioning system clogged and spilled water down the walls, we ordered this set. The package arrived withing four days of ordering. I think that is very prompt service.
The Ionic Pro Air Purifiers have reduced the dust, lint (in the sewing room) and odor in the apartment. The units are easy to clean, though we will be buying spare fins before Winter. They are so quiet, and do not interfere with sleep, conversations, or listening to TV or radio. The nicest asset is the lack of the musty, mildewed "aroma" we smelled every time we came in from the outdoors.
The bonus car ionizers do work, but we drive with windows down, so can't give an accurate assessment of their abilities. I would (and have) recommended this product to friends and family who have allergy-related problems.

Ionic Pro is a great company and these two products are fantastic. They are, indeed, totally silent and do what they claim they do. I also have the larger version and love them all. They are so easy to clean it is scary how well they work. Instructions say to just wipe them off, but smoke does not just rub off easily. I spray the blades with a cleaning solution and let it sit in the bathtub, then turn on the shower and it rinses off cleanly. No scrubbing at all. Let dry and put it back into the machine and it works just fine. If you are looking for a great air purifier, I highly reccommend these two. If you are worried about the amount of ozone they produce, they are WAY below government standards...and the smell they produce is so clean smelling. I purchased one twin pack of the Ionic Pro last year and another last month. We also have two Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Units that we purchased about 5 years ago. Yes, I know it seems like a lot of units for one house but we have a very large finished basement where we keep two units and I like to have one in each bedroom. I can tell you that the Ionic Pro is extememly comparable in quality to the Ionic Breeze units except for cleaning of the wires. On the Breezes you have to pick the unit up and turn it upside down repeatedly 9 times to move beads along the wires. The Pro has a built in wire cleaner so you just have to raise and lower a little stick. With a house full of allergy suffers these have brought much relief and even reduced sinus headaches I used to get often while sleeping. I ordered the pair of these a month ago and couldn't really tell a big difference when we had them on. They need to be cleaned ever 5 days or so. But, recently we've noticed when coming back from being away for several days that our house really doesn't smell like our dogs anymore. It's not a smell that we would typically notice until we were gone for a few days. Now, the smell is gone. As I said, they do need cleaning fairly often. However, it's really not very difficult to clean them. It takes about 1-2 minutes and requires a paper towel. Overall, when looking at the prices of these compared to others, these seem to be a great value. I would recommend them to others.
