Tools and Hardware Reviews of J. Terence Thompson 2851-1B Large 37-by-17-1/2-by-14-Inch Wheeled Storage Trunk

Customer Review: I bought 2 more
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased two of these LARGE boxes for my to use when she moves from Vietnam to the US. They are great -- HUGE space, and the whells work great

Customer Review: great footlocker for the money
Summary: 5 Stars

This footlocker works great to store papers, it also has a space to add padlock, which is a nice feature. Very pleased with quality.

Customer Review: With limitations but still useful....
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these boxes in Taji, Iraq at the armed forces exchange for around 25USD. They are built relatively well. I had to reinforce the rivets (by replacing a few of them). The dimensions are a bit deceiving but, are still large enough for the purpose I used them for.

I packed them with my belongings for shipment back and forth from Iraq to my home in the States. It cost about 45USD for shpment at a weight of around 40 lbs with the US Postal service. For mailing I drilled two additional holes (one in either end) for TSA locks during shipment. I also sealed the lid for shipment using duct tape. They arrived intact and my belongings secured (even glass picture frames).

While I was in Iraq I used the trunk for storage(under my bunk). Now that my career as a contract firfighter is over I will use them as storage lockers. Maybe even camping gear storage and transportation.

At the price offfered they are more spendy than my purchase price but, I would still recommend them even with the limitations.

Customer Review: Good, light-duty footlocker for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

For under %40, this footlocker was a good buy. The size inside is ample, and the rolling wheels are "beefed up" for durability over rough terrain such as blacktop and gravel driveways. Weaknesses in construction are "light-duty" hinges for the lid, and "light-duty" plastic construction for the faces of the footlocker.
By "light-duty" plastic construction, I mean that you would not want to subject the closed footlocker to excess weight (say over thirty pounds). Doing so would bend the shape of the footlocker, possibly even cracking or breaking the plastic sides or lid. Also, the hinge looks like it would snap if the lid were 'flopped-back' quickly or once too-often. This is a lighter-than-average footlocker, and would not be what you would want for shipping overseas, but kept in the bed of your truck for camping purposes, or storing clothing in your attic, it would be ideal. I plan to camp with mine, so I think I made a good purchase!

Customer Review: Rockband Box
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this trunk/box after moving out on my own. In college I had one of those plywood fake locker/trunks and missed having something to store all my extra stuff in. More specifically I was looking for something to hold all my rockband/guitar hero guitars and more importantly the drums. Everything fit in the box perfectly except for the base of the drums which is fine since that's kept in a closet out of sight. Now I don't have the clutter and get a nice little surface/ottoman. There are actually four cutouts as cupholders in the four corners of the box.

As far as quality of construction that would be the reason that the box lost a star. Although the plastic is durable I'm still a bit paranoid of warping it or bending it out of shape by putting too many things on top of it since the plastic is still wobly when you open the lid.
