Description of JS-8 Rip/Crosscut Kataba Saw
Most of the need for a kataba saw in western shops is for deep cheek cuts, primarily tenons and other large joints where the back of a dozuki or back saw would interfere with the depth of cut - these types of cuts frequently involve a significant percentage of rip cutting. We are pleased to introduce our new JS-8 Rip/Crosscut Kataba Saw which can be used for cross or rip cuts with equal aplomb. The JS-8 Rip/Crosscut Kataba Saw (18 TPI) introduces a repeating pattern of seven crosscut teeth followed by one rip tooth. This configuration creates a significant speed boost when making deep cheek cuts - approximately twice as fast as our JS-3 - with no noticeable sacrifice when crosscutting. It is an ideally configured multi-purpose saw that you will find immensely rewarding.
