Tools and Hardware Reviews of Jiffy Steamer 0601 ESTEAM Travel Steamer, Black

Customer Review: This little steamer works great, and is made in the USA!
Summary: 5 Stars

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Jiffy ESTEAM, the first steamer I've ever purchased, was made in the USA! Despite having a smaller reservoir, the compact size makes it easier to store than full-size/pro steamers. As a travel steamer, it won't fit in my garment bag and might be pushing it in less than the largest carry-on.

After filling with reverse osmosis purified water and plugging it in for the first time (my thought was less calcium scale buildup) the little Jiffy started steaming in 2-3 minutes. I used a clothes brush to remove dust and lint, then proceeded to steam 7 sport coats and 6 pairs of slacks. It works great on wool, smoothing out wrinkles with minimal effort. I wasn't able to get 100% of the wrinkles out of linen, but I saw such a marked improvement that I know I can wear linen garments more frequently now. I refilled the reservoir about 4 times and the whole exercise took me a little over an hour. To me, this is much safer and easier than ironing as I don't have to worry about damaging the fabric or creating creases where they were never intended.

I'm confident that the combination of this steamer and a good clothes brush means I won't need to take my suits or slacks to the dry cleaners as often. I'm very satisfied, as getting this much stuff dry cleaned costs me almost $100! Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Excellent little steamer
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this steamer for two reasons: I wanted to remove light wrinkles from clothing I had worn so that I wouldn't have to dry clean it between wearings, and I wanted something I could travel with. This steamer is excellent for both purposes. It's true that it is small and requires frequent refilling if you're steaming multiple garments. However, its size makes it ideal for travel; if they made the reservoir any larger, it would be too cumbersome to pack. It's also true that that steamer won't fully remove deep creases, but then, no steamer will. If you want freshly pressed clothes, you need to use an iron. The only complaint I have about this steamer is its lack of an on/off switch, but this is truly a minor issue.

If you purchase this product, I recommend that you use filtered/distilled water to prevent residue from building up in the reservoir (just as you would do with a steam iron).

Customer Review: Portable clothes steamer
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great portable steamer. Easily packed it in my suitcase. It's not incredibly fast, but it gets the job done. I bought this steamer to take along to Vegas for my daughter's wedding. I called the hotel and the concierge said it would cost between $50 and $100 to have a wedding dress done at the hotel. We made our money back just in doing her dress alone, but we also did the three bridesmaids dresses and some of the groomsmen tuxes. It also has a nice long cord. I also checked online and this steamer had the highest ratings. If there is a drawback, it's that you have to keep the steamer in a fairly upright position for best results. On normal clothes this isn't a problem, but on a really long dress it means getting the hem line up high enough to steam the bottom. In that situation, we found it much easier with two people. But then, how often are you steaming a wedding dress with train by yourself?

Customer Review: Excellent Steamer!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this steamer specifically for my wedding day. My full ball gown, complete with cathedral length train, had been hanging (stuffed) in it's garment bag, hidden from my fiance, for the full month leading up to my wedding day. I knew I would need a good steamer to be used by my dress attendant on my wedding day, so I did extensive research, which led me to the purchase of this Jiffy Steamer. On the big day, I walked into my dressing room to find my gown BEAUTIFULLY steamed with not a single wrinkle, and every square inch of the duchesse bridal satin looked like smooth buttercream icing. My dress attendant said that the steamer worked beautifully and quite easily "melted" the creases from the gown, from the pleats at the corset to the edges of the very long train.

And now that the wedding has passed, I will be taking this steamer with me on my business trips!

Customer Review: quick and convenient
Summary: 5 Stars

I gave up ironing over one year ago in favor of a fairly large steam machine. When going on a recent cruise, I purchased this portable steamer hoping that it might work to quickly get out some packing-related wrinkles especially from our formal wear. Well, this steamer worked great! I had no trouble getting it on the ship - although they don't let you bring your own irons on the ships - they have no problem with the steamers. It was easy to use, created a lot of steam, easily got wrinkles out of men's suit jackets, gowns, etc. It was well worth the money.

I am updating this review after owning this product for just over one year. It is still working great and I use it at home now on a regular basis as well as bring it on vacation.
