Since my son loves his Gorillapod for stop-motion videos, I bought two of these tripod flashlights at Christmas time, one for each of my brothers.
They were a huge hit! Both my brothers kept messing with them and I've received reports about how handy the flashlights have been for various mechanical tasks that are far outside my realm of knowledge. If you're shopping for a guy or gal who is frequently involved in projects and who likes gadgets, this is a solid product that won't disappoint.

I really did not know what to expect when I bought 3 Joby Gorillatorch flashlights for Christmas - they were interesting stocking stuffers. But after we realized how useful they were, we were quite impressed!The men in your life will love this product. I even used one when I needed a light for my music during a Christmas play at church. The magnets stuck firmly to the music stand and the light could be adjusted as needed. Versatile, useful, batteries included, it was a smart buy in my opinion.Customer Review: Delighted

The Gorillatorch is as flexible as the Gorillapod mini tripod,Joby GP1-D1EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Grey), and can be used in many places for handsfree lighting. It also has strong magnets in the feet, so can stand on vertical metal surfaces when there is no place to entwine it. The legs are super adjustable, which make it perfect for so many things. There are magnets in the feet of the legs, making it easy for working on cars - they seem pretty strong too, I haven't had it fall off of anything yet due to poor magnet strength. I was surprised at how bright this thing actually is... I don't recommend looking into the light, it hurts. Badly.
Honestly, I didn't see a flaw with this at all, I'd buy again and again if I ever needed more than one.

I have used this for camping, reading, and electrical work. I am amazed by how strong the magnets are and they attach easily to metal. It's not large so you can carry it like a regular flashlight and use it in tight spaces. Also, the bulb is a Cree which is more expensive than a LED. You can dim the light by turning the knob instead of having to click to pre-set light levels. I highly recommend this as a gift if you don't know what to give.
