I believe I've found the perfect gift set of tools for a new homeowner, college student, employee, car owner, or anyone else who might need a good set of the basic tools and hardware that are helpful around home, office, or on the road. This set comes in a nice, sturdy plastic box with items housed on two levels--a lid with compartments, and the lower level underneath. A slide latch keeps the lid closed and secure. The hardware in the kit is located on the top level, inside a clear plastic lid that flips open--snaps back tightly. I especially like that the scissors on the top level are secured with a twist latch, and that 2 other tools are compactly tucked in beside it. Organization in this kit is really excellent, and everything is neatly contained in a 7 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 2 1/2" box.
This set contains the following tools: 8 1/2" scissors, utility knife with 3 blades, bottle/jar opener with knife, 8 oz claw hammer, 6" torpedo level, 6" slip joint pliers, 12' tape measure (retractable), 1 large & one small Phillips screwdriver, and 1 large & one small straight edge screwdriver. Also, there are small compartments of varying sizes on the upper level of the kit containing picture-hanging hardware (nails, wire, etc), 20 silver 2' nails, 10 small silver screw eyes, 20 large & small gold cuphooks, 10 push pins, & 20 colored paper clips.
The quality of the tools is good (certainly not a set for industrial use) and perfectly good for occasional, light use. Tool handles are comfortable and easy to grip, which is especially nice for someone with arthritis in their hands, as I have. There is a lifetime warranty for this kit from KR Tools, but the buyer has to pay for shipping, so don't know how much that warranty will be actually utilized.
