I frequently travel to construction sites for work. It wasn't until I purchased one of these devices for my home that I noticed the same product being used by general contractors to protect their laborers in unfinished spaces. It seems every time I turn a corner now in a building, there's a gas-fired heater blasting hot air down a hallway and right next to it, fastened to a metal stud, is a Nighthawk CO and Gas Detector. Excellent product and I would recommend it to anyone looking to protect their family or colleagues.Customer Review: Life Saver for anyone that can not smell

This Detector is a life saver. I have no sense of smell and recently one of my cats bumped the knob for a burner on the stove, enough for the gas to leak into the house but not far enough for the electronic igniter to light the burner, needless to say when I got home this detector was the only way I knew that there was a problem. I would recommend this product to anyone who has gas appliances in your residence.Customer Review: No problems

I've been reading all the reviews of false alarms, and just wanted to say that I have experienced none. I have had this product in my home for almost a year and have had no issues with it. Product seems well made and except for changing the battery which I do yearly with all my detectors, I haven't touched the thing. My wife and I have had one of the Kidde KN-COEG-3 Nighthawk plug-ins in our home 18" off the floor and 3 feet from our Propane fireplace for over 8 years. The old one out lived it's life expectancy by almost three years. Bought this one to replace the old one as they cannot be repaired. We test it once a week and it is so reliable. Easy to install - just plug it in, clear readout. For LPG detection, can plug directly into outlet near the floor. If you use natural gas, you will have to mount the unit high on the wall and remove the cord-connected plug to connect to the outlet. This might deter some people since the AC cord will be visible as it runs down the wall.
