Easy-to-Read Digital Display Shows CO Levels
The KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk is unique among traditional CO alarms because of its digital display. This display clearly shows levels of CO that the unit has detected and stored-- from 30 to 999 ppm--and it updates every 15 seconds to indicate any abrupt changes or alarming trends. The display also shows the peak CO level recorded by the alarm since it was last reset or unplugged.
LED Shows Sensor Status
With the KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk, you never have to wonder if the sensor is functioning properly. A blinking dot in the lower right-hand corner of the display denotes normal operation, so you can trust that it's working. In addition, you can test alarm function by pressing the test/reset button at any time to verify that the horn and electric circuitry are operating properly.
Convenient Mounting Options
The KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk has a low-profile design that makes it suitable for any room in your home. The detector can be plugged into any standard A/C outlet; it's plug can be snapped into the back of the unit and can be rotated so the alarm remains vertical, independent of whether the electrical socket is mounted vertically or horizontally. In addition, the alarm comes with a 6-foot extension cord, so the unit can be plugged into the wall outlet and then placed on a table or shelf. Customer Review: Keeping us safe from Carbon Monoxide for several years now...

Two mature adults with pets, we have used various CO detectors for about 12 years, The KN-COPP-3 has been here for the last 3.
Was glad to upgrade to a unit that had digital readout and battery backup, looked at many and this one stood out for features and price. I change the 9v battery when I do the smoke alarms every year and they still have enough power left to use in something less important like a radio or VOM.
Now and then I will unplug it and use as a handheld detector as I walk around the house and into the basement to check for any leaks. As they tell you, you will get SOME reading right around items that produce CO but as long as the levels are within limits you know you are safe.
The first one we bought from a Mom & Pop type general store that had only one left and had a clearance price on it.. could not believe my luck in running into the model I wanted when I was not even looking for it.
However, I could not get that unit to setup properly with readings all over the range etc.
Called Kidde and found out that you need to let them get exposed to the interior of your house for some hours before you plug them in, seems the packaging can foul the sensor after a time.
Even that did not help so I called Kidde again... they ask me to read the date on the unit, turns out that you need to replace them every 5 years and this one was already past the "use by" date when I bought it and should not have been sold.
Kiddie, sent me a replacement unit right away and that has been working for several years now. That is good service, when they found out that the store I bought it at was out of town and I could not return it, no more questions, they took my address and sent me a replacement!
So.. be sure to check the date on yours so you know it's a recent build to get your full years use out of it. Then also record the date in your planner so you can replace it before it has a chance to fail from old age. I see Kidde might have increased the time to 7 years now, even better with the same price.
