My old carbon monoxide alarm started beeping in my basement. Thinking the old one might be going bad, I took my new talking alarm to the basement. Shortly it began announcing " Warning,warning carbon monoxide!". There was no doubt in my mins that I had a big problem. Our gas furnace had gone bad. All homes and apartments should be equipped with these life-saving devices. This Kidde unit requires batteries which are to be changed at least twice a year (when daylight savings time begins and ends). Carbon Monoxide is silent,deadly and undetectable gas to the human nose. We attached ours near our furnace and boiler on the ceiling. It is very easy to do and since no wiring is involved, it is inexpensive.Customer Review: Does the job

I purchased this to replace an identical one that finally died after 6 years. Thankfully we have only experienced smoke alarms coming from something that got a little too hot on the kitchen stove but each time the unit quickly detected it and warned us of the situation. I highly recommend this unit, but if you prefer another, please get one of some type for your home and the protection of your family.Customer Review: Consumer Friendly

Instructions provide all the features this ONE alarm can do or has. Didn't realize that it can also stand up on a table e.g.(rec rm in basement). I believe Kidde provides the highest quality of alarm systems. The price from Amazon was very good and delivered without going from store to store...other stores don't stock the Nighthawk model or sell out and customer has to wait for shipment.Customer Review: They work great so far!

Purchased 4 of these units for a new home purchase and they work great! No false alarms in the kitchen, and I feel good about having them all over the place due to so many natural gas appliances, heater, etc.
The voice telling you which alarm is triggered could be louder, however, the alarm itself is loud enough to knock your socks off. I feel very good about this purchase.
