This is great, just like the one I am replacing. It is designed to only last 8 years, not sure why? Was able to attach it to the base from the other one. Thank goodness,I have never had a fire so not for sure how it works in an emergency but when testing it works fine. It talks which I think is important for children. I bought this to hang on my wall to replace a detector that woke us up more than once with a false alarm. I am happy to report that this detector has not gone off unexpectedly.
To sum it up, the detector is still hanging on the wall and we are all still alive, so it must be functioning well. I would recommend this to anyone.

After I'd shopped around including Home Depot and Costco, the deal offered by AMAZON was the best. Free shipping, no tax and delivery in three days!! It doesn't get much better than that. Strongly recommend to anyone looking for a state-of -the-art CO/Smoke device and a state-of -the-art seller!!

Basic Carbon monoxide detector / fire alarm , works well (went off, when I was running a clean cycle on our stove).
It's got a voice prompt so you really know what has triggered the alarm.
Easy to install.
Has clicker so that you can adjust it to be perfectly horizontal for aesthetic purposes.
