Customer Review: Operates as specified
Summary: 5 Stars

This seems to be working as the manual says. The only problem is that I've had a few false positives. This is because that the manual states that this unit should not be within 3 feet of the bathroom entryway. I'm going to assume that this is due to fact that the heat or steam from opening the door after a shower/bath would set it off. And it does. I'm not saying that this is a problem, I'm glad that it is that sensitive. But I didn't install it to the recommended directions and this is the result. So with this result I'm going to say that this unit has been tested thoroughly and they have put much effort into the day to day operations of this unit. As for the Carbon monoxide I can't say how it would react in a real life situation. But I would hope that if the fire portion of the unit was this well designed then the Carbon Monoxide should perform just as well.
I could recommend this unit for anyone looking not just for piece of mind for fire detection but if they also wanted to detect carbon monoxide.

Customer Review: The way to go

I haven't seen the better choice for fire alarm yet.
My recommendation, at all cost, use wired-in alarms with battery backup, and have at least few (if not all) with CO detectors. To my experience battery-only CO detectors are battery eaters, so if you have few of those you will be replacing batteries every few week in at least one of them! With this one, you are set for years! And, yea, use a good battery, that thing starts beeping every minute or so if battary voltage starts to drop, I had no problem with Duracel batteries.
I have used 5 pre-wired combination alarms for 3 years, without replacing a battery, and after recent remodel we have added a fireplace in living room, and I was kinda cheap on wiring as we didn't do exstra electrical work and I wanted CO detector in the room with fireplace, so I put a battery-only model, and 6 month and 3 batteries later I finally hired an electician and put this model so it can feed on AC instead of the battery, like my other detectors...

Customer Review: Combination interconnecting alarm
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought 2 of these for the new house I bought because It was prewired for wired units and interconnecting of the 2 units "the red wire". I got them both wired up, turned the breaker back on and both went off with a long beep followed by a voice saying something about a test. About 30 seconds later it said battery low, so I pulled the yellow tape and got them mounted and decided to press the test button. I press it, it goes off with all the different warning tones/voice oommands and then the other one on the other end of the house started to run the test too. The test was ran just by pressing the button on just one unit! With all the features of hardwire, battery backup, voice command,smoke/Co2,interconnections you can't put a price on safety and I feel this was money well spent. I recommend this to anyone looking for a unit with alot of features.

Customer Review: Saved our it!

I never gave this monitor in our basement a second thought. It was here when we moved in 3 years ago.
Since then I installed 2 other carbon monoxide monitors one on the 1st floor & 1 on the second floor.
2 nights ago our exhaust pipe to our boiler exploded and the ONLY detector to go off was this old one in our basement. My husband thankfully was up late watching tv and heard the voice warnings. By the time he ran upstairs screaming to get our kids out our whole basement and 1st floor were covered in smoke.
The fire dept. told us how high the levels were and we were very lucky to get out in time. Had we slept through it we would never have woken up. This saved 5 lives! Not to mention our 3 cats.
I can't even imagine if we didn't have this monitor the thought of anything happening to my kids..

Customer Review: Just Do It
Summary: 5 Stars

Seemed like a very fair price for a dual CO2-Smoke alarm plus it had the "voice" feature. Well, it came quickly ... 4 days total via USPS with free shipping. I'm about to be selling my home and needed to upgrade to a CO2 alarm near the bedrooms. There are several things that I didn't know including all smoke alarms "wear out". I assume it's the radioactivity. The new alarm will automatically stop working after 7 years ... I guess that's a good thing. What I learned in swapping out my older alarm was some "very fine print" stating that it needed to be discarded by 2005. So, at what point do all my old alarms need to go? Anyway, for about $32 I got a dual purpose alarm, easily mounted in the ceiling and working with my other interconnected older units, and a new battery. This is a great country!
