I had a carbon monoxide detector going bad and false alarming. And the sensor modules for that unit were no longer available. So, after searching and reading reviews, decided to purchase this product, and since all of my other units were connected together, ended up purchasing 3 units and replacing smoke units as well. Units were very easy to install. The only thing I wished that these units had were an LED readout of any levels detected. Replaced a 10 year old BRK Smoke Detector...This Kidde is Great! Hookup took less than 5 minutes, just replaced old pigtail connector, with the included Kidde connectors. The Kidde base feels more sturdy and the sure-lock twist design guaranteed a perfect fit. The Kids love the "voice" warnings (test mode) for Fire & Carbon Monoxide...I also love the visible 120v power indication (green light). Did I mention that Amazon.com has the best price on this unit...yeah, pick one up!Customer Review: Best of the Best

A talking detector...great idea, and multifaceted. Have them in all my properties. A first floor rental tenant family member decided to do a small brazing project in the unit late in the evening. The detector went off in the third floor apartment and the fire department called for an evacuation and venting. The tenants agreed that without the voice command they would not have known whether it was a fire or CO problem, and less likely to evacuate themselves otherwise.Customer Review: Smoke alarm and CO detector

This was just the right product to replace my old smoke detector that was wired into the home when I bought it. I have recently bought an emergency generator and propane heater to be ready for the next ice storm or power outage. This unit will give me some additional protection from carbon monoxide as well as a battery backup, which the old unit did not have as a feature. It was easy to install in place of the old unit and appears to be functioning well.Customer Review: Reliable and economical

Replaced same units after reaching 7 years upon them alerting for CO detector expiration (chirp each 30 secs). No false alarms over this period, batteries last well during extended power outages (Hurricane Ike). Kidde also has excellent web technical and product support if you lose your instruction books (free PDF) or have questions. Replacement units easily installed (twist on and pull tab). Found Amazon has the best price on the web.
